Gene was re-hashing a lot of his song fr Lick it up - Hot in the shade. Too busy being Mr Hollywood,Record Mogul & hanging out w/Hugh Hefner. Hell, he even had a limo on call 24 hrs. Access to excess. Kiss fr 83 - 89 was Paul Stanley's band.

@robzombys1 10X better -- problem with "Animalize" is he was making a movie at the same time, "Runaway" and the quality of songs really suffered in my opinion, the "Asylum" songs were a noticeable improvement.

@Blacksong74 in retrospect it was pretty dumb, KISS could've been so much bigger if Gene had been fully engaged in the band during the mid 80's. He was spreading himself too thin with too many projects.

Unbelievable that there's someone here saying this song sounds like "Black Dog" by Led Zeppelin....that's just flat out MORONIC, the two songs couldn't be more different actually. Now, you could say that this song is slightly generic and possibly even that Gene ripped off some of his previous melodies off Animalize and Lick It Up.

I saw the Asylum tour when KISS came to the Carolina Coliseum in Columbia, SC. This was their first stop their in 6 years (Dynasty, June 1979). They played this after opening with Detroit Rock City. Black 'n Blue opened. Tommy Thayer was in that band. Who knew then...?

eric only sang twice on a kiss album. little caesar from hot in the shade and a cover of beth from smashes thrashes and hits. he sometimes would sing young and wasted live and of course he sang black diamond and all the other songs that peter used to sing
