Allsopp is lovely. Have you actually listened to what she said in this? She genuinely believed that the market would level off - not crash. She was worried for people that would lose a year of equity growth by having a 'punt' at predicting a crash, and also worried that with fees considered people might be worse off unless a dip of over 20% occurred, which she clearly didnt think was likely due to the low interest rate situation.

When there is high employment, consumer confidence, increasing population and demand for housing and no (obvious) nasties on the horizon then people will continue to buy pushing prices up or at least static. Eventually interest rates will have to rise again back to a level of around 10 to 15% and this will be the true cause to home prices crashing. The real question is will you save money by buying a cheap home with high rates or an expensive home with low rates. Depends on what you have for a downpayment. If you have saved every much, then wait for rates to increase and home values to crash, if not than buy your home now while prices are still alittle high but get a low rate long term mortgage.
