Thats called talent of high caliber gentlemen! this guy is singing, hitting the spds sampler and killing the drums ,choking high china boys and telling the crowd to get off there ass and party with him. In my book thats pretty incredible! Hey Joel whatz up? and he plays for Spyra Gyra! I'm just sayin!
I enjoyed Joel for years and he was one of my top drummers . I was sad to hear he had left the band but for the last few concert in which I attended I could tell his heart wasn't in it anymore. He didn't have that same enthusiasm as I a was accustomed to seeing..
This is the first time I've seen this guy and just found out that Joel's no longer part of the band. BUT from having heard Joel (Rosenblatt) on various records and watched videos of him online, I would definitely say that he's very much a pro's pro compared to this guy. I mean no offense to this guy whatsoever; he was innovative and had good stuff happening. I just think Joel is a much more superior musician/drummer.
I saw him live in DC. His solo just blew me away. He also used his patched set in an interesting way. Oh yea and hes probably the greatest drummer of all time
An electronic drums. It has some rubber pacthes. You set up whatever sound you want to the individual patches, from an inbuilt bank [or an external one, sometimes] and do your thing!
exactly what I was thinking.. a somewhat "disconnected" solo?.. lacks at theme or a repeating phrase or.. what ever.. still nice..and refreshingly different ..but not a "great" solo in my opinion.
Beghty27 thanks for the love. I'll pass the message on to my uncle. Craziest thing of all is all these guys are better men then they are musicians. Keep supporting Spyro Gyra... and unc, keep doing what you do!!!
Jay Beckenstein is a consummate artist, an innovator, a gentleman, a great father, and I love playing his music on my sax because it is therapeutic and so enjoyable. Thanks Jay and Spyro for your great music. I promote world class instrumental performers and you guys blow me away.
This guy is good, but if nobody here has checked out the old drummer Joel Rosenblatt you need to. He could give this guy some lessons. Joel is sick! Not sure why he left the band, but I know anybody who comes after him has some big shoes to fill.
