Thank you for this terrific piece. You put so much care into the choice of images. Shockingly I never heard this song until today. I might take exception with the inclusion of Al Sharpton among the images of the charlatan Christians. Perhaps at one point he deserved this but I find that he has "seen the light," as it were, and is definitely on "The Side of the Rebel Jesus."

As a mere human that has grown weary of the anthropomorphism of deity and the elitism of Christ's message... this song always rang true... There maybe stones cast in the visual representation, they are but symbolic judgements. Love forms it's own symbols... this is how the spirit communicates. This is why I always appreciate Jackson Browne's substance and style though rarely his politics.

My response to this video took me a little off guard. As a leftie Evangelical (a bit lonely but maybe getting less so) I found myself tearing up there at the end... One small caveat... the inclusion of Rick Warren... he has (unlike some of the others) really tried to impact social injustices with both his money and his mouth. HIV-AIDS in Africa in particular... but whatever. Great job, and thank you for turning me on to this song (which I'd not heard before today).

I hate to burst your bubble but Christmas doesnt have ANYTHING to do with CHRIST read Jeremiah 10:1-4 and thats what the MOST HIGH has to say about Christmas. Do your research you are really celebrating Nimrods birthday along with other pagan gods. Christ wasnt even born yet when the book of Jeremiah was written so that should tell you that they(pagans) were doing this custom way before Christ do your homework you will see sorry for bursting your bubble but he that has a ear let him hear SHALOM

do you know why christians have a christmas tree, it was because they saw that pagans were putting up oak trees, and the pagans would hang skulls on them. so the christians to show their God was better put up evergreen trees and hung much more pleasent things, they replaced an pagan tradiction with one that, they felt would be more pleasing to God.

and just because they have similer traditions does not mean that they are worshiping the same thing

Ok first of all what does a TREE has to do with Christ? Now Nimrod's birthday was Dec.25th not Christ. Nimrod's mother/wife thought that his soul was comming back to the Earth on his Birthday(Dec25) so under EVERY green TREE she along with the other Pagans set out gifts for him under the TREES.
