  • You're either not very well informed or not very honest. Or perhaps a bit of both.

Ethanol burns far cleaner than gasoline. And the "dead zone" in the Gulf of Mexico has decreased while ethanol production has increased. So blaming ethanol is failed logic at best.

Their ad claims their industry helps support over 600,000 jobs, not that the directly employee that many people. Think real hard and you might figure that one out.

  • They never claimed that subsidies go to farmers. They buy corn from them for hundreds of millions of dollars. The subsidies go to oil companies and refineries to offset the cost of blending ethanol with gasoline. The ethanol industry has proposed doing away with the blender's tax credit and putting resources into better infrastructure instead.

Ethanol contributes nothing to world hunger. Unless you believe farmers are going to give food to impoverished nations if they can't grow corn for fuel.

  • Corn Ethanol is not the perfect solution, but it is defainately a major step in the right direction. I could go on and on, but eveyone should learn the real facts first before they go posting negative adds and anti-ethanol campaigns...to those people, you just don't know reality. I worked in the petroleum industry for 10 years, and have worked in the ethanol industry for 4 years, so I do know the facts first hand. Educate youselves rather than believing the anti-ethanol bs!

  • one of the worst videos i have seen. looks like this video was paid for by a lobbyist movement of its own.

  • I understand that Growth Energy has posted a video response to this that is awaiting your approval for posting here. Any plans to allow that into the comments soon?

  • @mattdmerritt Hi, I haven't seen any Growth Energy video response. Our video was in response to their ad campaign. If you have access to the video response, you are free to share it. We don't require approval for any comments posted here.

  • Corn is grown in areas where it recieves 50 inches of rainfall on dryland ground. Ethanol requires only 2.33 gals of water for every gallon of ethanol produced. Fertilizer isnt exactly a toxic chemical rather a renewable resource which I thought your company endorsed. More ethanol means more rural jobs which means more familys raised in rural enviorments. This is a much more serious problem with our society, the way our children are being raised. Lets give our farmers a chance to stay on thefarm

  • Ethanol isn't clean... last I checked, it involves using tons of toxic chemicals to grow the corn... and it uses ridiculous amounts of water both in growing the corn and in producing the ethanol -- and water is already scarce over much of the country!

  • Not sure I have seen a more misinformed lump of info. Someone tell these folks not everything is a government conspiracy. Do a little research, think for yourself. Every statement made in this video is a bold faced lie with no facts to back it up. Another smear campaign...

  • I can see you not wanting Ethanol to be subsidies. but calling ethanol dirty is just plane wrong it burns way cleaner than any other liquid fuel on the market. and that can be scientifically proven. Ethanol is even approved for indoor cooking because it burns so clean. and how are you figuring it is expensive even without subsidies it is cheaper than gas. do you realize how expensive gas is without subsidies? Ethanol is not perfect. i am not a fan of subsidies but i am a huge fan of Ethanol.
