No. Didn't like the guitars sound, the mix and the overall tone of the song. And the voice is, as far as I'm concerned, totally awful. In fact, there are certain parts where everything sounds out of tune. And the solo... no way.

I agree. But I just dont think the guy woulda been able to play it as YJM did.. so he improvised something tasteless... lot more easier to improvise than to play someone else's solo.

I disagree. Adding in his own solo gives the song at least alittle original taste. It's as the saying goes "Play the beginning like the original, play the end like the original, but the solo is mine.".

They already changed the song enough. I just think doing the same solo would have given the song that "feel" of the original. This almost doesn't sound like I Am A Viking. Its almost a completely different song.

I know, its okay to change it up a little but it just didn't work here. It sounds like a speed metal band trying to do a Malmsteen song and failing at it. I don't mind the changes but it still has to atleast sound like the original. And if you'

re going to do someone elses song it has to be as good or better than the original otherwise its just going to suck. Van Halen did cover tunes and they all sound atleast as good as the originals. Bands should take note of the way VH approached covers.

Well, I think it sounds awesome. Almost always the original will be better just by it being the default. But still, these guys did a good job with it. These guys aren't Malmsteen, and Malmsteen is nearly impossible to imitate. He's the expert of his style, so no one will really be able to match him. Just remember, this might be some random 4-5 18 year olds who one day decided to make a tribute to a song they all liked. You can't compare someone who's 18 to Malmsteen. It's just not done.

Well, I am the retard responsible for this version of "I´m a viking"...concept, production and I also play bass and all guitars, and all I can say, that we put our hearts and balls into this in 2001, with no intention to outdo the original, but to PAY TRIBUTE to it! We sold THOUSANDS of records of our two Tribute albums, had a lot of the original artists as special guests.
