Dude, you keep getting bit because you have no idea how to handle them. I've grabbed up Racers dozens of times and alot more often than not they have been docile and not even attempted to bite. You handled that one recklessly which is why you got bit several times
@JlMMIEJAM It does not bother me that I was bitten, it's just a general lack of fear I guess for non-venomous snake bites. Larger Boids I get nervous sometimes
@xxxHERPERxxx I think you should read JIMMIEJAM post again. Really all that I got out of it is "Have more respect for the snake and you may not be treated badly in return". I enjoy what you are trying to do, except please be more careful and respectful of these creatures.
I love how you say "don't bite me in the face now", and then you move it towards your face. It's like watching a...how do I say this...really smart guy? :) but you are the biggest badass I have ever seen, no lie, I would fucking shit my pants if I saw that thing, and I'm new to your vids and I have already watched every one of them because of this one, this should be the main video on your youtube channel cus of the amount of "action".
Brandon, the fastest snake I've ever seen in the field was a California Red Racer (Masticophis flagellum piceus), which I am sure you would know is actually a Coachwhip subspecies. I suprised one that was sunning in a large vacant lot and it easily outran me. The 7-8 mph most texts will grudgingly admit the snake can hit at topp speed is ludicrously conservative and should be doubled. I was also outrun by a Blue Racer in Michgan long ago. Your videos are
I have a few of these in my yard down in S. Florida. One of the cool things they do also is raise up like a cobra and even strike at you. I was pulling up a large cypress stump and a 4-5ft one came racing out.
Hey, Brandon I also have a pair of Jesus Lizards in my backyard. Yesterday I saw and photograph a baby. You talk about fast and super cool. These guys are amazing. Great job !!
england is really boring, we dont have wild snakes here, the closest thing we have to snakes here are slow worms. im not joking. pet shops here RAKE it in!
thats true, a massive whopping three snakes spread across 93,788 square miles of land. considering i live in the 30th most populated city in britain (including scotland england wales and nothern ireland) i dont really get to see much wildlife
3:26 I see it had some ribbons cracked in the past. poor thing one of my snakes has one badly healed ribbon as well. you're a nice guy, wish I would live where you do (I'm hungarian)
i saw this video like a week 1/2 ago. i live in california and i was just watching ur videos bcuz i love them! but i came to florida for vacation and like 3 days ago to be exact i was chasing lizards here and i found a BLACK RACER a bit smaller than this one and i remembered this video :D wow i was excited i chased the snake through the whole yard and your right those things are fast!!!
very nice video!! I just want to correct one commone missconception and that black racers actualy do well in captivity assuming that it was CAPTIVE bred and not caught in the wild. Though they do need a larger inclosure for their size then other snakes would as they are an active snake. One of my favs as far as snakes go. Saw a video once of a man who owned a black racer and he taught it to play dead useing hand signals. I have never seen a snake do that.
I'm so glad I searched for snake handling and found you. One either hates them, or is so facsinated by them, he/she can't learn enough and is willing to go out there and find them. I was impressed with your racer knowledge and have a feeling it doesn't stop there! Keep catching and posting!
Reminds me of old times! I was inspired enough to go herping for the first time in a long time and caught 3 snakes. Let them go of course. Keep it up man! I'm a new fan. Posted it on myspace. Take care
@xxxHERPERxxx yeah I use to get nervous when I first started catching snakes but after I turned 6 I think that was about when I got over the biting hahaha
Lol yeah those tiapans and tigers are fast like racers and bite like racers but with a deadly punch. You gotta be carful with these pit vipers we have they are just so fast at striking and they are so easy to step on! I aint no yank I'm a redneck lol.
Yes they do mosty toads though, they'll occaionally eat baby turtles birds and other smnall mammels. Sometimes small snakes, and lizards. But they are dietary specialist.
yeah thats what I thought they are very common in Illinois and know one beleived me.out at my friends country house I would always catch them...they mimick the rattlesnake so thats why I knew it was a bull snake.
Excellent catch man..Snakes that big are not easy to catch at all..Ouch on the bites..I know they felt more like needle scratches, but they do cut.lol...
n2m hey man can you make a herps at home vid like an update or just a random vid showing your reptiles or like a reptile room vid people like that like an update or reptile room
