This is nothing! Looks pretty smooth compared to another one I saw. This one was cut perfectly, the other I saw wasn't cut straight and had loose edges sticking up everywhere. It was a mess!

@karaicy Probably, but there is a big risk in it. I don't want to risk not ever seeing again. but I use contacts, which are great. The only nuisance in it for me is putting them on, it takes 2-3mins everyday, and can be annoying, but it's a habbit for me just like brushing my teeth. :-) In 5-10 years when the technoligy has deloveped a little more.

@ashepe Actually, there's very little risk. There's a risk with any surgery. No one has ever gone blind, and there have been millions of surgeries performed world wide. Like with everything else, you want to go to someone that has a lot of experience. I know about 10 people just in my own city, all friends or friends of friends, that have had this done with no problems. It's not as risky as you think it is. The most common side effect is a little dryness. I don't have any dryness.

So to lower the risks of any kind, always go to someone that has a LOT of experience and modern equipment- some of the greatest machines are now even FDA approved.

I had it done yesterday. It doesn't hurt because they putting numbing drops in your eye. The worst part was not not knowing what the heck they were doing. When they flip the flap your vision goes blurry and then when they're brushing it back into place you can see all of it but can't feel any of it. It was pretty freaky but I'm seeing great already and have no regrets so far. If you don't want to cut the flap, opt for PRK, then they dissolve a layer of your cornea instead.

@TheTwilightSagaHeart it doesn't hurt at all, weird, but it doesn't. you feel that something is pressing your eye, but you don't feel s**t. they drug you up with a sedative first, then they put anesthetic drops in your eye then they poke around but you don't feel pain throughout the surgery. it lasts like, 10-15 min with the preps, but it feels like 3-4min tops.

@TheTwilightSagaHeart yeah, the fact that you can't blink or even move your head is uncomfortable and you get a little bit anxious. but if your eye moves the laser shuts down, so it can't torch your face :P :D

they have a little thingy that will move your lid so you can't blink even if you wanted to. and i have to admit, this first part, when they put this metal thing over your eye, is the worst part. i litteraly stoped breathing from discomfort and the pressure on the eye.

Also dry eyes are the case in every LASIK patient but as long as you use artificial tears like you're supposed to for the first few months, you won't have a problem. People over 40 struggle with that more because their tear film doesn't produce as well as someone who is younger.
