Don't take my word for it, but I always thought it was the Boxer engine design that kind of inhibits it from pushing out too much horsepower. They exist, but those are constantly maintained, tuned to the max, complete drag monsters. But as with any engine, when you're pushing out a lot of HP, expect some thing(s) to break, it's just a matter of when it'll decide to give. But that's just my take. I'm no mechanic. :)
@SummerConspiracy A lot of it has to do with loss of hp in the power transfer to the wheels. AWD loses a lot of hp in the transfer to the wheels. You also have to look at gear ratios. All that being said, you can get a crap ton out of the engine. It just really helps to go forged.
@ralphpehrson lol there're plenty of 500+ subies out there. Evo Was a more popular car (until they discontinued them) so that's why you see more of them out there.

@4drcivicmaster thats a bad motherfuker. My GST ran 272 cams, 800cc injectors, 24 psi, big 16g ported, etc, on and on making 322whp. Sounds killer too man. Has it been reliable? How many miles on this setup?
