Why is there even hate? sure the Hunger Games and Battle Royale share a common 'fight to death/game/teenagers' theme but both of the stories are very VERY different (concerning purpose, outcome and audience), each to their own. I think both the stories complement the other, it's similar to how Vampire-love-triangle stories are very similar to eachother in plot but are still unique. At the end of the day, the 'Games' (Both Battle Royale and Hunger) are very entertaining so I'm not complaining =)

battle royale's awesome, because it creates something that american movies can't do very well, and that's to take such an ugly concept and emotionally move you, america are all about making money and making shitty repetitive movies with the same basic plots, i personally think japanese movies are more original and better, because they're not afraid to stray from the roughly-beaten path that the american film industry have walked through time and time again.

The Hunger Games looks so much better TBH. Even if the idea for pitting children against each other isn't original, the rest of the novel is. The make believe country of Panem, the distribution of the Districts, the role of the Peacekeepers, the existence of a secret district underground, a rebellion that overtakes the Capitol. The similarities are dizzying to list!

People, BR and THG are both different and unique in their own way. Differences :
1. BR HAS KIDS THAT GET KIDNAPPED FROM SCHOOL. PEOPLE IN THG DO NOT GET KIDNAPPED. THEY ARE CHOSEN OR VOLUNTEERED
2. Is there a mention of any love in BR at all? I think not.
3. BR has no hoverplanes, bow and arrows, arenas, Capitol, Training Center, Districts, Avoxes, drunk mentors, outrageous fashion, etc

@mimi162757 I've read all three: The Running Man, Battle Royale, and the Hunger Games. RM had the same "idea" of humans set out to hunt each other with BR. The similarities end there. HG copied BR from the plot setting of a post-apocalyptic world, totalitarian government, prize of wealth for the winners, fucked up landscape, 2 main characters pairing up, evil "frontunners" of the game, et cetera. The similarities are dizzying to list!

the movie battle royale its in fact just a slash movie.
maybe the novel has more depth but the movie its really pathetic.
but HG trilogy,if you want and if not at least more depth in the characters.
