I know a song that goes into a breakdown slower than this, and the drummer does like 250bpm with the double-bass and it sounds sick! As long as the drums are in rhythm, there's no such thing as "along with the beat". Besides, a number of Slipknot songs, Joey "slams on it" with the beat slower than this, too.
