Hi PAUL , I was wondering if you could explain me something i have been meaning to ask you for quite sometime .I want to clarify the meaning of this sentence (Thank you for having been my friend) can i say I Sorry for having tossed pieces of chalk at you . thank you and i'll be looking forward to your reply
@cubanbas3ball100 -- That's a good question. The "ing" word after the preposition (for) is a gerund followed by a past participle. I'll have to look this up. The sentences are okay--they suggest the action happened in the past. Here are alternatives: "Thank-you for being my friend," and "Sorry for tossing chalk at you." Your sentences are correct, but the ones I wrote are a little simpler.
Really it's a great job ....i have a problem of using "to have"...like i want to have a conversation with u....in this sentence what the meaning of "to have"
Thanks so much Paul, this topic is very, very helpful. The verb to get has many confuses when we are learning english. I wanna thank you because I'm getting good english with your classes, I hope somebody does for you what you do for us
