If you add a Manfrotto 361 shoulder brace to the Velbon monopod it massively increases the stability of the little Velbon. The shoulder brace is very light and folds down along side the monopod. I've been using this combination for a few years not for video but as a stabilization aid for high magnification field macro stills photography. For a waist pouch I use an old lens pouch with a neck strap. This is an advantage if you are leaning forwards at a low angle.
My feet continually collapse at the slightest bit of downward force. The rubber brace (inside the feet) will either move left or right and thus give no stability.
It's very annoying! I'm essentially shooting on the rubber end of the tripod which affects all my tilts and pans. Is this normal??
thanks to this vid, i bought the 560B-1 for my DSLR :) i only shoot stills, so for a 300mm lens it's going to be a huge help! and way lighter than my 055C tripod w/ head.
@MrTschassi That is Varavon’s mini Armor. cheesycam did a review on it, go to his page and search "Varavon mini Armor" all info and where to purchase can be found there.
Thanks Olivia. These are the two monopods I'm trying to decide between. I already have a 701 head so I'm wondering can that be placed onto the 560 and would that then essentially make them the same monopod minus small feature differences like height?
@thepodcastersstudio Olivia, that's great. Thanks for the response. It's still a tough call. I'm not sure if the fluid cartridge on the bottom was improved on the 561 or not. Half the price is tempting but I don't want an inferior product. Do you know if the fluid head on the 561 was the only upgrade? It holds more weight but I suspect that is due to the head not the monopod. Since the 701 pans, I wonder how that effects the fluid cartridge. Thanks again.
@thepodcastersstudio You can also get the 562B-1 which is the 561B without the 'fluid head' and for $100 cheaper ($199 instead of $299). You can throw your Manfrotto head on there, or the Weifeng/Fancier 717.
that belt pouch is to much lol

I have a manfrotto fluid head already, I was wondering if the 560's head can be unmatchable so I can just put on my fluid head on there

Hi Olivia -
How did you achieve the stable feet at 0:28??
My feet continually collapse at the slightest bit of downward force. The rubber brace (inside the feet) will either move left or right and thus give no stability.
It's very annoying! I'm essentially shooting on the rubber end of the tripod which affects all my tilts and pans. Is this normal??
Your advice would be appreciated.

@thepodcastersstudio yes, the 701 fluid head and the 560 monopod are compatible together. This is a great setup. =)
