Quite likely one of the BEST rock songs ever written. Meaningful lyrics, immense riffs that fit perfectly together, twin guitar, multi layered vocals from the heart and BLISTERING solos throughout. Modern "rock" cannot compete with this, I don't care how many records these modern bands have sold, Thin Lizzy rule the roost!
I'm not sure if i commented on this or not but this is my fav TL song of all time for many obvious reasons but today it hits me differently as I'm entertaining a personal loss..this is truily a great song...Thank You for posting this is a great page!!
Everyone fights their demons. That's just part of being a man or a woman. We all die, we don't know when, but what's the point in a life that's nothing but long and boring?
I have fought plenty of my own in my 42 (almost 43) years, and I know how lucky I am to be here....still fighting several of them. But, I would rather die knowing I REALLY lived than take my last breath knowing I didn't take a risk to do shit.
Just my opinion.....and this song kicks TOTAL ass!!!
as a recovering heroin addict this song consoles me and at the same time sends a shiver up my spine im only 23 wtf was i thinking?? my only answer 2 that is, i wasnt thinking i was 2 busy having what i thought was a good time. what a fucking lie that turnt out 2 be lol but where theres a will (and theres a strong fucking will in all of us) theres always a way. god bless and happyxmas x
This is so scary.........the benefits of hindsight.Phil knew what was going down.
Too late,a call for help.
I worked at some of Lizzy's early gigs and it looked like proper fun,a band playing on their mettle!
To the scuzzy little hanger-on ,parasite pusher who first put smack Phil's way,you know who you are,you cheap loser!- I hope you choke on your filthy money one day!
I remember the day Phil died..I was at work, and saw the news in a newspaper. It made me very sad and shocked - but the oddest thing was that when I fired up my car to drive home after work, THIS song came from my cassette player. Strange coincidence?
Hey ThinnLizzyFan....BRAVO ZULU for being able to keep these seriously kick-ass tracks from Phil up on the tube for us to enjoy! ( Slides you a Bottle)
This guy reminds me a lot of a Norwegian singer. Joachim Nielsen. Really great artist that died of drug abuse. But man. They both had genius songs. Sad we don't see more true talents like them. RIP
This song was about all addicts and alcohols. Phil died of heroin addiction and complications of liver disease. He was a heavy drinker also. This and DEAR LORD are phil stripping his soul bare. A real man. In the end he lost the battle like so many of us do. For all you idiots that have no reference points, have never had a monkey on your back? keep quiet and refrain from ignorant comments.
@fang666LSD The one thing about Phil Lynott compared to many other musicians who sang about this he truly meant what he said. He sang with such a powerful depressed hatred for the drugs he did espeecially Heroin. But he couldnt quit using them. The songs especially the drug laced ones ones are hte most powerrful songs I have ever heard
hey filmisar, if you dont feel, or have feel this state in drugs, you dont understand phil. been adcited to cocaine and stuff, is the worst torture, believe me man....

if you haven't been strung out on some bad stuff, bless you,be grateful and stay away...don't go there ;ever.
That was Phil's plea and admittance.
Addicton is curse on the world.
Fk all the pushers (ignorant Chavs looking for tainted Cash £,,little Gangster lookalikes in their poncy little BoyRacer cars Fk U)
You will always take away more than U give.
Get out of our World.
Rant Over.!

a shame that most of the greats like phil have that creativity and depth that somehow makes the dark side's access to them easier. he is sooo missed.
