I would like all rescue people to watch the video of the J-Arms frictionless descender and critique our new invention with relation to unlimited rescue application. See the You tube video of the frictionless descender. Search for j-arms. This rappelling device will revolutionize the sport and rescue applications. There is always an easier solution.
It's funny to see people come to the Gunks to boulder, you never saw that in the 80's and early 90's ,but now that's the new thing. It's like walking by a Porsche to look at a new VW Bug? But that's what makes the world go round. I'm a bit spoiled since I live near and grew up at Lincoln Woods in Rhode Island-which was written up as some of the best bouldering in the East-but the Gunks deserves nothing less than trad climbing, because man it's got it!
Yea, and I even edited out some of the bouldering sequences (no don't ask for them, they're long gone)I wish someone would out that kind of production value into trad. climbing, I guess it's just not that sexy. Yes there have been a few recent movies that show some trad.-First Ascent, and the recent Sharp End to name two. The Gunks is not considered a new or exotic locale even though we love it.
If you're asking me, Trad is Rad...I live here at the Gunks, go figure. I prefer to be on the sharp end .(less neck fatigue) The process of placing gear, rope drag issues, etc. make it most challenging. That's not to say bouldering is not worthwhile, it certainly has become quite popular in the last decade.
I'm not sure exactly who they are, but basically those french guys climbing also double as night time dj's and have done lots of remixes....they had a party when they were here at the gunx (note the guy doing that at the end)also see the credits....

Fantastic. Who is that on the big roof at the end? I've never seen someone make a trad roof like quite so effortless.

The roof is Kansas city 5.12 in Near Trapps. It's one of the first climbs you see as you walk from the road
