  • FUCK YOU

  • you should be lost your job

  • I was expecting a video...

  • Comment removed

  • why was he fired?

  • @legomaster335

Do you seriously not see anything wrong with this clip...

  • @FrostbitexP nope?

  • @legomaster335

Do you really think its ok for a plane carrying passengers to fly meters above the ground with no landing gear down?

    use your brain dude -.-

  • @FrostbitexP i am, and i love what this guy did.i support him

  • @legomaster335

Well obviously your brainless when it comes to aircraft, so i can see why you would support such an idiotic act.

  • It could have been him aborting landing

  • @abcjjc222

then why wasnt his landing gear even out?

  • "Fuck you" means you death!!! LLOOLLZZ

  • nice vid dude :D

  • According to official reports the pilot was sacked because of a unauthorized low fly by. He wouldn't have been sacked if he had requested a fly by from ATC, but due to rules and regulations he had to be sacked

  • why did he lose his job?! It was a flightshow!

  • It was not a low dumb ass Run!

  • The pilot lost his job because his boss was jealous.

  • @furq123 For using company asset as toy?

  • Why did they sack the captain for this stunt? He knew what he was doing and it wasn't a commercial flight. I would have blamed it on the autopilot if i was him.

  • @poorpilot00 because it costed the company money and airlines are tight arses :D

  • because the pilot knew what he was doing, management knew but the video ended up on youtube so someone had take the blame for it.... that's how it work with local companies...

  • finger in my ass

  • some nut

  • crap

  • love the livery of the plane!!

  • PILOT WAS FIRED...AHHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  • Horrible photo montage... Almost hurts the eyes.. This should be passed out as the next Rick Roll.

  • True...pilot got sacked!

Airport cleared the flyby, but the airline didn't...or wasn't informed of the intent!

  • LoL hard lines.

  • Really? The pilot has lost his job?

    Why he's done this?

  • To show off himself and the plane.

  • That`s all folks...

  • Slide shows don't prove anything. Video is the standard. Slide shows are not video.

  • Too bad it wasn't a video. If we were all sniffing glue, that might have looked just right!

  • it's real dude

  • It was real and the pilot got sacked. Try Google it.

  • You missed the point. I said it wasn't video, which is true. It was a slide show. I said nothing about it being real or not. I saw the video and I know the pilot went to work elsewhere.

Damn, why do people assume shit?

  • Oops, sorry my bad. I did not fully understand your first comment meaning.

  • i think it was a go-around!!

  • maybe if you look the landing gear is not down, it was just a fly over

  • fag

  • haha the pilot is my neighbor he lost his job after tht an moved to the midle east

  • Hahah. cool:) That is very special. I normally never repy on my own videos on the net but in this case I just had to:P

    -Jan-

  • reply***

    -Jan-

  • @iamyourboss1 yea i bet he is your neighbor idiot :D:D as if!!

  • Lies. How can you lose your job from a fly-by? There was probably a reason he had to. It happens all the time. Winds pick up, overshot, etc.

  • How could this have been an overshoot/go-around if the gear was up?

Low level fly-bys do not happen all the time, apart from specific and authorised events such as airshows. This was not. The pilot was fired.

    Please utilise google before posting.

  • Exactly...without APPROVAL → you get Donald Trump'd..→ You're FIRED.!

I've heard Cathay with fire you for walking down the Jetway with your flightbag in the wrong hand.!

  • This was an unscheduled fly-by. There were many high class people in the Cathay Airlines on this plane. They said it put them in danger.

  • high class people.. more like dix

  • If you're going to come on here and say something immature, then spell it right. By high class people, I mean owners of the Cathay Pacific Airline.

  • If you're going to come on here and demonstrate that you're more educated than myself, then suck a rotten cock. By more like dix, I meant try not to worry too much about what I say. eat a gnarly gash

  • @mickcooper73 why he lose his job?

  • @mickcooper73 bull carp considering this is a routine test you jackass... this was intentional and definately didnt loose his job u moron

  • Geriatric retards! Alcohol was NOT involved here. What a pathetic infant rumour.

A flyby is normal practice after picking up an aircraft. This one was a bit lower than usual, but then cathay pacific pilots are also a bit better than usual. Shouldn't have been fired..

  • Shouldn't have been fired?

Were there additional risks over a departure being taken here? GPWS warnings going off in cockpit or safety systems inhibited? Rules are pretty clear? He didn't follow them? Should have known better? (You can tick yes for all of them)

Might seem like a bit of harmless fun but even as the Captain you are not in a position to decide that.

Having said that - love his work. ;-)

  • Not true at all. You are just making an inference.

  • it wasn't, it was the delivery flight, and the commander was fired afterwards

  • Yeah really. (sarcasim) you really have not lived. Look at the news this was not a airshow. I belive this was at Boeing field! Use your brain and don't twitter about stupid and fake things!

  • I read up on this one. He was indeed fired. His low flyby was called in and the company let him go. He exercised poor judgement as you can tell from this series of snapshots. The captain thought it would be cool to do the so-called traditional low flyby as he picked up the brand new aircraft to deliver back to Cathay's hub in Hong Kong.

  • looks like someone was creative with takeoff and landing pics

  • NO.. Actually this was a flyby that the pilot got fired for (sadly IMHO). It was a delivery flight to CX and the pilot did a traditional (albeit very low) flyby of the facility, which is the way the flight crew say thank you to the workers for their hard work building them a safe and solid aircraft.

  • hehe, I like the 007 music

  • fayik123, go back to your basement bedroom and spare humanity of your stupidity.

  • Why?

  • why do you think that?

  • i still don't believe that pilots who are caught over the alcohol limits should be fired as they are highly skilled people. Ok its not allowed to to be over the limit but its doesnt mean they were legless and couldnt see 3 feet in front of them. IT may be the legal limit but that doesnt mean it isnt possible to fly safely. MInd over matter is more powerfull than any regulation in the book. MOst pilots admit you could easily land an aircraft after a couple of beers but its not allowed.

  • that is probably the dumbest thing i have ever read.

  • Agreed. There is no proof that alcohol was even remotely involved here. fayik, do us a favour and blow yourself up in a pay-toilet stall. Dumbass.

  • you fool

  • YOU ARE THE GRATEST IDIOT OF OUR ERA!

  • fayik123 - "i still don't believe that pilots who are caught over the alcohol limits should be fired"

Shows what good thinking does for you. You think, fine, but don't say anything because when you do, you reveal what a fool you are.

No they shouldn't be fired. They should be shot in the head for risking hundreds of passengers lives.

"MOst pilots admit you could easily land..."

All planes land. The question is whether the passengers live through it.

  • you no nothing about the can do attitude

  • what on earth was he/she thinking? ITs against safety regulations. Just imagine if a dual engine failure had occured at this low altitude. ALthough a dual failure is unusual it can happen. THis is a 777 not an f18. ALthough i don't think he should necessarily of been fired for it as he was still must of been pretty good to of been a commercial pilot. I dont think firing is the answer. but if he was willing to do stuff like this then cathay pacific might of thought he wud do other things

  • ... gay. were da movie huh. utube gosh >=[

  • i'm glad he got fired!!

  • the captain was 55 years old and was fired. the plane was filled with VIP's and they celebrated the flight later toasting to the captain. The 320MPH fly by was authorized by ATC but not by the airlines so ended up getting fired.....shitty deal

  • I think if ATC authorised it then he should have been disciplined, not fired

  • I wish I was underneth it

  • You know, when they wrote about this story in the SCMP, they didn't really go into details. Love reading these comments on youtube they fill in the picture a bit better.

  • lol

  • wow

  • All that being said, Ian is a friend of mine, one of the nicest guys and one of the most competent pilots I've ever met or work with. I wish him well.

And it was one of the coolest things I have ever seen, much less been a part of.

  • Yes, prior flybys have been done, but a) not with that many high-profile people aboard, b) not with that much fuel (120 tons) and c) NOT THAT LOW.

The combination of those factors (particularly the 28 foot altitude) and the lack of proper process (planning, simulator practice, risk identification and amelioration) results in exposure to a level of risk that was deemed excessive, and NO COMPANY, airline or otherwise, can tolerate OR EVEN BE PERCEIVED TO TOLERATE that degree of risk.

  • EVERYONE KNEW IT WAS COMING; it was all part of the "show"! That explains why there were so many cameras around.

On return to HK, it became clear that the pilot had NOT obtained approval WITHIN THE COMPANY for the flyby. Yes, the chairman was aboard, but he is NOT authorized to make flight operations approvals. He is the business end of the company, and doesnt know the operations side, particularly, the risk aspects. And, the pilot was not approved for aerial display flying. to be continued .

  • KPAE (Paine Field, Everett WA). Normal takeoff followed by circle-back to normal ILS approach, all flight-planned and approved, under ATC control all the way.

Gear up, flaps 15, 195 knots and very, very stable all through the approach and the low pass.

On the ground: about 200 members of CX north american sales team, and a couple hundred Boeing personnel, from ground handlers to executives.

    ...to be continued...

  • Ok here it is... from someone (me) who was ON THE AIRCRAFT at the time.

Yes, he DID have tower and ATC clearance for a flyby. BUT no one except the pilot knew how low he would go.

It was a delivery flight, NOT a test flight. There were 61 passengers aboard plus the flight and cabin crew. Company execs, including chairman. About 3 dozen Hong Kong media, and several HK politicians, as well as members of HK CAD (local version of FAA).

    .... to be continued....

  • yea but he didnt drop his gear down, fly bys usually have landing gears down and 400 to 500 feet, this man did it below 100ft

  • essa manobra custou a demiçao do piloto por nao ter sido autorisada

  • Doing a low fly-by at the Boeing plant is nothing new. Crews from different airlines do it when they test thier new aircraft right before delivery. In this case, althought the CEO was on board & I believe he approved of the action, it was the HongKong (CHINA) authorities thier FAA equivalent that put pressure on TYLER to fire the pilot because it was never asked nor has given Cathay permission to do such thing. It all boils down to the Chinese govt. letting everbody who runs the show.

  • Cathay Pacific? The pilot was probably shot.

  • this is hong kong anese not chinese. idiot

  • Here is a link, to a video, that appears to be the same video, unedited, from a different angle.

    watch?v=b1ijLu2HzvI

  • What a bunch of idots... if anyone even believes that it is real you are out of your mind.... It's called editing............... This video is beyond retarded....

  • Actually it is real, this is frames from the video, b/c it was removed from youtube, but you might be able to find the original video somewhere.

  • It's real, fuckface. I have the Seattle Times and PI papers with the photos. I also know 2 dozen people who work at Boeing who saw it happen. Think before you speak, dildo.

  • You are being proven wrong, by the people living in Everett, WA. Home of boeing.

  • Yeah, it's ture, and the captain was fired also!

  • No shit, sherlock. The pilot *was* the captain. I believe this Darwin Prize is yours?

  • Typical in this day and age, can't even do a prefectly safe flyby now and the zealots fire you.

  • he wasnt an experienced display pilot, cathay have designated pilots for that mostly ex red arrows guys and this bloke had no military experience or aerobatic/display.

  • A Cathay Pacific Airways captain who picked up a new 777-300ER airliner at Everett's Paine Field last month has been fired for buzzing the airfield before heading home to Hong Kong.

The celebratory flyby, reportedly just a few dozen feet above the runway, surprised the senior airline officials who were on board, among them company Chairman Christopher Pratt, according to the South China Morning Post.

The Hong Kong newspaper reported that Capt. Ian Wilkinson lost his job

  • comradejose your lienig you have no balls asshole

  • what the fuck is this?!?!!?! , can some one explain me ???? (Please)

  • in the FSX then you must fly at 300KTS at 500FT over the runway then you must fly at 250KTS at 500KTS and then you must land safe

I think it stands under expert(Not beginner)

  • ?? - Some people talk such jibberish bollocks on this website!

  • FSX blows. 99% of the PCs out there can't run it. It is officially a financial flop, and demand for FS2004 grew again, driving prices back up. I got mine new, sealed for $11.99; A few moonths later, it was $29.99, same place.

  • In the Netherlands is fs2004 only €8,-. I had bought it for €30,-, but it was when I bought it a new game

  • i thought he done a go around.... , but when i saw the gear up i thought WTF?!?

  • I like it, do it again

  • that isnt low. my balls hang lower than that

  • low balls could be a sign of something more serious, you shud see a doctor comrade!

  • indeed comrade, but all of our doctors left to join NHS because they got offered $60,000, and we can only pay in potatoes, vodka and trabants.

  • thats really dirty lol :)

  • It's a tradition to do a flyby at Boeing's when airlines take delievery of a brand new plane. Captain Wilkinson must have done it numerous times before, but this time his top bosses found out since they are on board.

  • Yes not only the VIPs even the top managment cause the plane wearing a PROMOTE HONGKONG livery

  • Thanks Colfan the news was posted in a HongKong Newspaper, even the picture of the captain also appealed (according to the newspaper he was a Chief Pilot of CX)anyway which is which SAFETY IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THINGS I TRAVEL EVERY OTHER WEEK)

  • I think it was somewhat harsh that the pilot was fired for that, they could have let him off with a good talking 2.

  • By the way that was the 6th 777-367ER and its happen January 30, 2008 in Boeing plant ferry back to HongKong

  • The plane actually took off and the pilot didn't ask Boeing's tower permission to turn around to flyby very low altitude, CX CEO, a lot of high ranking officers was inside the plane cause the plane was painted in ASIA WORLD CITY special colours to promote HongKong but unfortunately the pilot get file right after they landed HK and the pilot was Chief Pilot of CX

  • My understanding from an article in the SCMP was that the pilot did have the control towers permission and was aware in advance that it was going to be a fly-by.

    For what it's worth.

  • Pilot: D'oh! I forgot about the landing gear!

    Co-pilot: Again?!

  • This really sucks :D!!!

  • oooh... a picture show! Goody - get lost

  • i think its cool =] sucks for the pilot though should have checked with his company first

  • hey next time get a video camera

  • that's a rubbish clip, worse than shit from your ass

  • And you call me the dumbass for saying that, when your the one getting your knickers in a twist over 'a 21 sec. video of a plane.' and just sit down and be quiet ;)

  • People crack me up! "too bad, bad pilot!" Friggin morons! It was all approved and known it was going to be done by those who mattered. HE was probably thier very best pilot! "Bad pilot"........LMAO, idiots!

If it would have been accepted, the pilot would still be flying to Cathay. YOU are the idiot here. And the manager of Cathay said, that it was not approved or known by the company.

  • LOLL.... so you actually think that the pilot of cathay pacific just decided to take the B777 on a joy ride a few feet above ground level???? come on! it's just some publicity stunt.. Etihad does something like this every year in the Dubai Air show

  • People crack me up! "too bad, bad pilot!" Friggin morons! It was all approved and known it was going to be done by those who mattered. HE was probably thier very best pilot! "Bad pilot"........LMAO, idiots!

  • GPWS: TO LOW GEAR TO LOW FLAPS PULL UP

thats what the plane was telling the pilot unless he silent alarmed it

  • Are you a frigging 777 Pilot? i think not, so dont think you know it all ;) he obviously knew what he was doing and it was all approved by those who mattered like konandy66 said. -.-'

  • it wasnt all approved you fucking dickhead, if it was approved why did they have a reason to fire his dumb ass, and YEAH your also a dumb ass for saying something so retarded, check the news out, they said they didint even know he was going to be doing that dumb stuff. so stop thinking you know everything just because you saw a 21 sec. video of a plane. shut the fuck up and check stuff out on the news before you say something retard.

  • This was done in the boeing plant... I assume that it had some sort of approval...i dont beleive that it was right to fire the pilot.

  • Honestly, and I'll probably get flamed like everyone else for having an opinion, I don't think Boeing would take the chance at their plant. I know a few Boeing firefighters that work at the different plants here in Washington, and safety is big. I could be wrong though.

I also don't think the FAA would think too highly of this either. Yes, I know he's a foriegn pilot, but he's in U.S. air space, so I think the FAA still has the power to prevent him from flying in the U.S. ever again.

  • The pilot was ok'ed by ATC (boeing) but not by Cathay. That is why be was fired

  • GPWS warning: TOO LOW, GEAR!!

  • but it was cool

  • it was cool...he should have done it again

  • U're right rofflemayo.......my uncle has been and still a pilot for emirates airways for more than 10 yrs now and he assured me that it was an approved flyby from the CEO himself who was on board and the only reason they "retired" him with all finantial benefits and his salary is bcuz the video got out....and he also told me that the pilot is one of the best in the company since they trusted him to deliver the new plane with the CEO(long-time friend of his)on it!!! :)

  • too bad.. Bad Pilot..

  • Unguidedone, this an airline delivery flight w/ unapproved flyover of Boeing Field. Notice wheels up, not a lo go. Yep, fired, the CEO was aboard

  • sweet

  • It looks like the pilot got stuck in the ground effect and pulled out of the landing attempt. It normal for that to happen and the pilot should not have been fired for a missed landing aproach!

  • Im pretty sure this was a flyby, otherwise why would the landing gear be up?

  • Why upload a piece of shit?

  • From what I've heard. he was only fired because the video got out on youtube. when they get a new aircraft they normally do low flybys

  • theyr just all the dozen or so fotos taken and then played togethor. or am i just stating the obvious

i don't think there's actually ne video of it is there?

  • who the fuck would film this?

  • kool

  • lol don't you idiots read the news

  • Well if this was already planned to be his last flight beforehand it only strengthens the probability he was put up to it by superiors. "Let's get Mikey to do it. If anyone raises a stink, he's got nothing to lose, and we don't need him anymore anyway!"

  • No matter what anyone "officially" says you can bet this pilot did not do this on his own initiative and was probably told to do this by a superior, most likely that chairman who was onboard. When footage of this got out in the public eye someone's head had to roll and it was his.

Typical chickenshit corporate mentalities, made worse by public hysteria over a non event.

  • Fully agreed... that only a flight test on the Boeing Field, or nobody noticed the prime paint? By the way, stupid arrangement of photos... Even more stupd is the publisher of this video with those statements. And even more idiot are those who believe and say "good he lost his job". Band of fools.

  • Stupid pilot good he got fired.

  • "this is based on true events" as to who cares

  • While any gear up low pass with a an airliner is not exactly prudent, It is not completely a death stunt! Cathay Pacific, the airline in this video does authorize Low pass fly bys for air shows. There were no passengers on board as this particular plane was brand new and being delivered. The pilot was fired not for doing the fly by, but because he supposedly didn't have permission from the company to do it,even though the chairman of Cathay Pacific was in the cockpit jumpseat during the flyby
