I wish Iran was more progressive like Turkey. When the Shah was in power, it was much more progressive. Women didn't have to wear the chador or hijab and they could wear mini skirts and show off their beauty. There were bars, discos, clubs, excellent co-ed schools and colleges. Then came the fucking Ayatollah and akhoon into power! Thank the US and Great Britain for that!!! Bastards!

I am also familiar with western culture but have to say that Turkey is beautiful the way she is. Collectivist cultures are more happier statistically and it upsets me to see some Turks lose their heritage and become fake, want to be europeans. @silkwhitestone , please understand that Muslims aren't of one place. people change based on places, and they adapt the religion based on the place and culture. if that doesn't happen, then I guess Afghanistan happens. They got rid of Buddhism and found talibanism.
@silkwhitestone In Turkey, we practice a secular islam which means everybody is free to do what they want. If you do not want to fast in ramadan, you don't and if you want to, you do.. The important thing is not to disturb one another.. ( and @MsTrance1 Those girls are also muslims. They are just modern, non-practicing ones which is quite common in Turkey)..
