    Greetings from Greece.

  • Thanks!

  • and what about all the basses?!?!?!?! :(

  • Well, you can play on them. If you learn to do that first :P

  • Very cool!

  • Most beautiful.. keep playing

  • Hi. I'm not familiar with this instrument. What are those extra strings used for? Are they sympathetic strings?

  • No, actually they are bass strings and are meant to be played on. I never really learned that part before selling the lute though :P

Search for "Theorbo" here on youtube, and see something similiar in the "real" lute family.

  • does it have metal sstrings or are they gut? lovely sound. Resembles a lot of Asian and Middle-Eastern lutes like the Oud

  • It has metal strings, the sound is hence a bit sharper than the oud.

  • Hi! I have one like that one, almost same style, but quite more decorated. it was selled to me for 2000 kr. too. I can play it like a guitar, but i dont know how i should tune the great six strings on top. Please tell me!

    :) /Erik

  • That instrument has a really beautiful round sound.

  • how much did it sell for?

  • 2000 kr i think (if I remember it correctly). Thats roughly $252 or £167.

  • please play something longer it sounded nice

  • Well, the problem is that I made this video to be able to sell the lute, and then I sold it.. :P Check out my octave mandolin videos instead!

  • Nice to see the Swedish theorbo being played, the originals from 1814/15 would have had gut strings and a lovely a soft sound. There is one made by Johann Jerner 1755-1820 of Stockholm which dates from 1792 which can be seen on the harpguitar website (galleries section-hybrids of mixed families), the extended neck designs are inspired by the late german theorbo lute which was more difficult to play so these Swedish theorbos took preference due to their single strings and resonant bodies.

  • Thank you for providing the information :)

  • Wow, what a beautiful instrument. You play it very well. -Ron

  • Thank you :)
