I use to go to a public school and use to see christians outside the school have prayers before entering the building. And they were told to stop that in front of the school. No guarantee because life doesnt owe us squat, but if you are looking for better work and maintaining good family and relationship practices, then your chances of seeing an improvement are quite good. @thicky Heres the rub: working to have a better life for you and your family has real odds of producing tangible results. No guarantee because life doesnt owe us squat, but if you are looking for better work and maintaining good family and relationship practices, then your chances of seeing an improvement are quite good. As for praying to god for it all, your chances are nil. As for not existing, we cannot prove a negative. But for gods, the scale of evidence has nothing on its side...

I am also a psychometrist (hopefully getting either getting into med school or my PhD next year) and fully aware of how religious experiences are explained by the human brain. Did you know pretty much all religious feelings and spiritual experiences are reproduceable on the lab? That means they have natural, biological explanations. Coupled with the lack of god showing up...

I think what really bothers many Christians most about C. Hitchens is he is so intelligent and articulate, and when someone so well-armed is not of your mindset, one would tend to feel threatened. He obviously wants good things for people in this life, as he has no belief in any afterlife. A real Christian, one who does have a love for people, would hope and pray, if they feel it would help, that he recovers fully, and if that can't happen, his death would be as pain-free as possible.
