Basement were both streets and ahem..basements ahead of everyone else for me...they had a unique intelligent take on the scene,and their legacy completely stands the test of time,putting some latter day producers to shame.
one of the things I noticed with Basement is they didn't often use vocals within productions but when they did they opted for more 'live' sounding edits rather than just cheesy sped up typical fare. Really impressive, the percussive elements really build the intro up strongly to the main piano. Absolutely gorgeous - what a fantastic production for '92. Compare this to a Prodigy tune of the same period with its more gimmicky samples and bleepings...and don't get me wrong, I liked
