  • Hi. Are vices like core illusions? e.g. sex is an illusion for intimacy - a core vale...

I was just wondering because some of these 'vices' appear to be negative in nature (e.g. cigars, or whatever).

Let me know what you think. Thanks.

  • Yes, by all means, they can be. Sometimes a vice is just a vice. I'm not knocking all vices. Some are fun. Some are not exactly "healthy", but let's face it - none of us get out of here alive. :)

Yeah, I'm the "real" fitness guy. I have negative vices but more positive ones. I can deal with that. And fyi, cigars have a calming effect, which I find offsets the negatives.

Oh, just had my lungs tested 2 days ago. Broke the meter.

  • Just browsing over the videoa from the past few weeks. Thanks for the coaching via youtube.

In this video, you really are good looking enough where we could have handled you without glasses.

    Keep smiling.

  • I love to see you on youtube..

    hi from Iceland

  • Hi from the States mamma4barna!

    Jon

  • popcorn. My vice is popcorn with Udo's Oil and full on sea salt. LOVE It. I love it so much, I've actually lost two teeth because of it (over the years).

I dont want to eat popcorn in the evenings, so because of this vice, I have it on my reward day, and I take the day off from almost everything, get some movies and watch them in the afternoon so that I'm done the popcorn before 5 PM.

  • Jon. . your making this way too hard to watch! Can't we just click a link and watch video like most other youtube videos. I've subscribed and I still can't watch video. This is for people for 40 right??? We're not as "tech savy" as others. . . or at least I'm not.

  • Jon, i have to say im a little disappointed to find out you smoke occasionally but considering i think so highly of you i think i can let it slide. its great you have finally started doing some youtube stuff. keep up the good work!!

  • I had many, but since I went to the doctor last year for my checkup and found I had high cholesterol and a bicuspid aortic valve that leaks along with dietetics that runs in the family, I just had to DROP ALL VICES OR DIE! Pretty good motivator! I social drink, but not often, and once in a while will I will go nuts on food or sugar...binge, but for the most part I am insanely strict now. I also hit the weights several times a week and walk my dogs, so now I am boring! LOL

    Thanks for the post!

  • Well, that's one way to get the vices under control! Make an exercise vice... that's a good one. ; )

  • LOL! Yeah, a bit of a bummer, but I can cheat here-and-there so the EODD plan is something I am doing without even reading about! GO figure! Thanks for being so "raw", it is a breath of fresh air! :-)

BTW...let's see some muscles man! Wear a tank-top or something revealing! :-)

  • Heh... well, I PROMISE EODD is not something you're doing simply by cheating here and there. EODD has a pattern of eating called SNAPP. It's an acronym that defines how and when you should eat. Trust me -- good stuff.

As for the muscles, that pic is me in the intro... black and white? Lots of musckles? Yepper....

But I'll wear a tank one of these days just to do it. Personally I like to say pretty covered up most of the time. ; )

  • Right, carb cycling, and eating certain things at certain times of the day/week. I get that...I need to just buy the dang book already though!

I agree, I don't like showing off either. I am all about wearing nice clothes the fit right...sometimes needing a tailor. For all of us, we just like to stay motivated, so that is why I asked...maybe just something that fits snugg?

We already know each other via email...guy with the nice calves and herniated disc ring a bell? :-)

  • 1. anything potato

    2. almost any meat (no gross tongue tho my mom said i loved it as a child)

    3. Salty foods

    4 . Cheese!!!!!!!

    5. not working off all the above

Heya i am coming to Houston Area soon on a Geneology Search trip with my Brother would be cool if i ran in to ya.

  • Hi MargeneLee,

You're about 7 hours or so south, so it's a long shot to say the least! I'll be back in San Diego for the summer, but I do hope you enjoy Houston. Just be sure to bring... well... lots of bug spray. Lots. And LOTS... ; )

  • You are too funny!!! It's nice to see a "real" person who promotes a healthy lifestyle.

My vices?...Booze, procrastination, fear, laziness, and I'm vain. (mind you, it's the vain-ness in me that keeps bringing me back to healthy eating. Now if I could just overcome the fear, laziness and procrastination...) I'm not giving up the booze, though, but I do try to limit it to one night a week!

Keep up the videos, they are fantastic!!

  • Thanks canadavespagirl! I'm doing just that... ; ) Please rate, subscribe, spread the word...

    I'm such a newb. : )

  • I tried your Radical Fat Loss. It was great. My jeans fit me now.

Can I just suggest that when sending stuff abroad, most people write valued at $28 (under $30). So we Brits don't pay stamp duty and VAT. I had to pay £60 extra. Ouch!! I still think it was worth it though so I'm not upset.

  • I like to make kids cry, so I became a teacher. Your right Jon I love my job. :) Just kidding.

I'm a glutton for sugar. We tell the kids at school they must have a healthy snack at school, and then in the staff room, the table is covered in cookies. I daren't go in there.

  • Ha! Actually really lol... ; ) Amazing how unhealthy our work environments can be.

  • My top vice (I feel right now) is spending way too much time on the internet. (I have 3 exams next week and should really study).

besides that, it's wasting my time on other things. (My workouts always find it's way into my schedual though:) When it comes to things I eat or drink it must be that sometimes I consume too much alcohol on parties.. I'm quite sure I can not make any of my vices work for my advance:(

  • Well, I spend a ton of time on the Internet and make my living doing it... so there is hope for one of those!

  • Good deal with the 35 pounds!

  • 1) Pepsi 2) mexican food 3) ice cream 4) social drinking occasionally...BUT I've lost 12 lbs since Easter, and 3 lbs in four days on Joel Marion's "Cheat Your Way Thin" diet (because I couldn't afford Jon's $47 vs $77)

  • Hi lionofjudahreigns,

    Kudos on your weight loss!

I want to clarify a few things:

Joel's book is $97 (comes with book and tutorials plus bonuses.) He had a 5-day special at a lower price, but that is long gone.

Every Other Day Diet is $47. Has been since day one. Comes with 9 bonuses and a YEAR'S membership to our support group.

7 Minute Muscle is the only $77 product as that comes with 7 videos as well as the book, as well as (about to be released) free support on the JBF forum. (cont.)

  • Thanx for clarifying, Jon. Somehow saw them both (7MM & EODD for $77). I got Joel's program during the five-day special. When I find an extra $50, I may have to compare. I'm in the (CYWT)priming 21-days right now... I get your newsletters and find them resourceful and have told myself I was going to get the EODD, but somehow saw it at $77. Thanx again!

  • Ah... yeah, you can get both books on 7MinuteMuscle [ d o t ] com-- as an optional thing. EODD is $47 and includes access to the member's support group (lots of folks there!) and all nine bonuses... plus a free copy of "Radical Fat Loss Blueprint."

  • And Jon wouldn't be so petty as to say this, but I will! EODD came out FIRST! He's already come out with a revised second edition (which everyone who had the first edition got absolutely for free) and is about to come out with a update to that. Responding to customers thoughts and giving back in return? That's a REAL value for $47!

(and it was so great I got 7MM when it came back, and I'm doing RFLB right now - loyal customers are your best feedback)

  • (con't.)

Now, I could delete this post, but I'm not that kind of guy. I want people to compare the differences and (yes) even the imitators. EODD is night and day different than anything else out there.

Finally, I am friends with Joel. I like his book and him as a person. But these are not similar products. The only thing similar is the concepts of caloric staggering.

    Thanks.

  • BTW, can you tell me how the two programs are different, like maybe one or two major points of difference? Joel's incorporates a "cheat day" (i.e. eat whatever you want) once a week, and then has you on low carb, high protein in varying levels the remaining six days...

  • Sure thing.

Again, this is not a knock to my buddy Joel, just a comparison.

CYWT uses a very common "cheat day" principle. Same as Body For Life -- but Joel adds in some staggering in the week and (wisely) a higher protein diet.

EODD modulates EVERY macronutrient and is based around the SNAPP(r) Principle. EODD is much higher in raw foods and has been called "the healthiest real-world diet on the planet" (twice... ; ) Also, you never have to count a thing -- SNAPP is self-regulating.

  • Congrats Metalchick (applause)!! 35 pounds , that's awesome. I'm sure Jon doesn't appreciate me giving out Adult beverage recipes on his thread. but Jon, It's a responsible effort it's only 66 calories per serving. lol . Yes 1oz of firefly and add your favorite green tea to mix and a twist of lemon.

  • 1) procrastination, 2) sugar, 3) salt, 4) fat, 5) lack of focus. Boy, that's depressing! How about the next question being "what are the 5 best thingsabout you?" : )

BTW - I've read all your books and your online personality is totally different than what I had imagined while reading your books. You're a pretty cool dude! Great idea to get onto YouTube. Good luck with your woman vice, that is, if you want it! : )

  • Ha! Well, I hope my books come across with some of my personality! If not I need to consider an editor... ; )

Thanks for reading and commenting... both are appreciated!

  • I have only one real vice and that's alcohol. I never get drunk ever. But at the end of the day after my workout, shower etc. I like to relax with an adult beverage or two. Lately I've been drinking Firefly (Vodka inused with Tea) and decaffinated Honey green Tea. 66 calories per drink, taste Like sweet Tea. I work this vice into my calorie count and so far it hasnt hindered my weight loss. I've lost 6 pounds in two weeks. I found that keeping a food journal is the only thing that works for me.

  • Journaling is 'crucial' -- great point Benvenutti66.

  • I enjoy a glass of wine now and again myself. It slows fat burning quite a bit so I avoid it except for a few nights a week when I'm needing to be in top shape.

  • My top five vices are smokeless tobacco, training my mind to understand why I need to work out (even though when I look into a mirror the answer should be obvious), procrastination (which contains the word castration), over eating, and over extending myself past my current capabilities.

  • My vices - ah the list goes on! BREAD! Diet Dr Pepper, any kind of salty snack food, being online 2 much instead workin on my website, goin out 2 the clubs dancin! Great exercise, but if the liquor starts flowing (Jager bombs r NOT made w/ sugar free redbull @ bars lol) then by end of night I want Taco Bell (oops, vice #6 LOL) & of course eaing tacos @ 3am doesnt help. N dont EVEN get me started on the mexican restaurant, margaritas & chips n salsa... sigh, Jon you opened a can of worms! lol

  • I have one major vice which has been holding back my fitness goals and that is nighttime eating! I wake up about 1 hour after retiring and then eat all the wrong things I never come close to during the rest of the day! Any suggestions?

  • I heart you cutis7. Two suggestions: 1 teaspoon of almond butter when you're hungry. Great for you and holds off the appetite. Another: Supplement with magnesium. Helps with appetite.

  • hey jon! I have been a suscriber of your site for a very long time. I really suggest you should hold a one time sale to boost your sales. I know alot of ppl who wants to buy your 7 minute muscle book but just find 77 a little too steep. yeah. just a suggestion.

  • Hi fossilmossil,

Please remember that the $77 is not for just a book, but also all the videos that come with the program.

However, we are about to do a special as you suggested that will not be unfair to the thousands who have the full version of the book.

Finally, the book in question in this video is not $77. : )

    Jon

  • I do have a lot of vices. Sugar is one of mine, also. Also, staying up too late, and spending too much time on email. I procrastinate and I snore and I'm often late to work. So that's at least 5. I'm not sure how I would work them into something that benefits me, except maybe procrastination. A lot of times I've found that waiting to act has saved me from doing something rash.

  • I stay up late myself, but it's just the way I'm wired. At least I get my 8 hours... ; )

  • Girlfriend?? I thought you were married last year.

  • No, not married. Came close almost 2 years ago. That's probably what you are thinking.
