and it's always them whom are the sole altruistic people, and i can only keep asking who all these other theoretical evil people. it's the government that they should be attacking. it's government that puts the incentives in all the wrong places. corporations are only a branch of the root of the problem, and the root is the state. but no way, they'll always find something else to attack, as long as it's not the state. it can't be the state! there's a way to make the current system work!
fantastic video! yeah i agree, people i've been debating lately on healthcare i've come to realize have this deep down loathing of corporatism that they equate to capitalism and the free market. but it's the government! it's the system like you said. that's just where the incentives are placed so people naturally are going to behave this way. there are almost no purely altruistic people that are going to give to the needy and not take advantage of the corrupt system.
It's all part of a greater "us vs them" mentality which is itself grounded in the idea that life is a zero-sum game and that anything anyone else has is inherently at my expense.
I largely agree. Many people who identify with Alex Jones have a cartoonish view of the world. However, their is a kernel of truth to many of their claims.
The ethos of the people pulling off events like 9-11 is basically "the ends justify the means" - 'the masses must be lied to in order for humanity to progress', and things of that nature.
On the flip side, the belief that Al-Qaeda and people working out of caves pulled off 9-11 is equally cartoonish.
I dunno. I think there are people who really just want to hurt other people or have power over them (sociopaths). I also think sociopaths are attracted to positions of coercive power. And if the whole thing about sociopaths having superficial charisma true, it would go a long way to explaining the composition of most political bodies...
I find this argument very odd. The psychology you are talking about is precisely what we see going on, out in the open. I'm assuming you heard all the lies to get us in to war? Yes, these people need a justification in their own minds. But guess what, they actually do. 'We need to break some eggs to make an omelet', kind of idea.
We have people saying outright that they think it would have been good if the US got attacked again because that would make the US stronger and more willing to fight.
I was a huge war supporter at the start. I would talk to everyone in college about why it was wonderful and good. I would endlessly debate the virtues of it for quite a while.
I was wrong, and had bad ideas ... but I really believe that Bush and the rest had the same sort of justifications. It is brutal, and horrible ... but I don't think they are Skeletor in intentions ... only in results. Same with my former way of thinking.
People don't need to be Skeletor in intentions for conspiracies to evolve.
You said that people need to hate people in order for 9/11 conspiracy type things to happen. Well, no. Their belief system is all messed up where they believe in things like the nation, over and ABOVE people.
Bush I and Colin Powell said there were tanks at the border of Saudi Arabia. This was a complete lie. We should face that reality. Saying I believe in cartoon type of evil is a strawman.
I wasn't trying to say you believe in anything. My video and reply had no intended direction at you. I was making the comment to people who did use cartoonish ideas
I noticed, but at the same time you said cartoon evil is required to knowingly hurt people. I believe people knowingly hurt people, but I don't think it requires cartoon evil.
So it did apply to me, which is why I respond from my position.

An idea that doesn't get mentioned often is that, if you want to hide, use ridicule.
Hire some nut bag like Alex Jones. Make things silly.
