The performance was good the Passion shod have been there . it symbolize the thought. and filings of a character hows entire life is spent in a world of hate envy and oppression and miss understanding ( he is a Jew not a monster )
Very well done. At first I thought i was watching an old tape of Ayelet Zurer, first because I thought you resembled Ms. Zurer as I would imagine her in her twenties, and also because it looked like the work of someone on her way to becoming a very accomplished actress.
Hath thou no spine, nor blood running through thine veins? Bloody injustice is thine plaint! Then speak with choler then, with the rage of someone vexed to no end! And not as someone in a fog, wondering whether it was a compliment or a slight that was inflicted on them. :)
you're truthful, which goes along way. but i agree with what some people have said, more passionate. the orson wells version is orson wells because he can be very intimidating without doing much. but i think YOUR version is something different.
Put some passion in, imagin you are a Jew talking to that arse Hitler - trying - all but in vein to make a monster see things your way. Only then will you have the passion required! PASSION WILL WIN THIS EARTH.
i dont think it was special enough.. it was verry similar to the orson wells monolog.. almost as if u were acting as orson wells instead of as shyloc..
so next time try to make it your own version of shyloc, dont be affected by eather orson wells or al pachino or anyone else but shyloc.
I respect that, everyone needs their own take on things. Merchant of Venice is a great play but its not just the script but the way it's performed that makes each production bad or good.
Poor acting but I will be constructive; Firstly its all on one level and sounds like your reading the lines from a book. Try to be more natural and say those lines like it's the first time you've ever said them. Check out my soliloquies, type in lenegan and they will come up.
Your facial expressions are excellent and though I interpret the speech differently, your intepretation is not wrong per se. I will try to make a response myself. Good job

Shylock (the jew) wants a pound of flesh cut of from a Antonio. Why?
Because Shylock charges heavy interest on loans while Antonio lends money without charging interest.

Im doing this monologue for theatre class and i havent decided if to do it furius or desperate
i think ill combine it (=
ZuverTheReal 3 years ago
Youre good!Sure , sme people might say he's supposed to be furious , but when I was reading the play for the first time I imagined him just sad.

thanks....well after seeing the less expressive face of this act by Orson Welles I thought...to give it a shot....
but now, i am preparing another one, expressing how furious he is.....
thanks and thanks again.

beautifully done however i do believethat shylock is furius at thmoent so a little mrepnd emphasize in your voice
hahahahahahncfsduhdf 4 years ago
I'm studying drama, and I just wanna give a little tip.
Shylock is furious and upset in this scene, you're saying it with, forgive me, lack of passion. Really emphasise the words, eg passion!
I know you're not on the stage or actually doing a performance, but it still matters.
And good choice of monologue, my favourite in.. possibly all Shakespeare.

hi,and thanks for taking the time, i just attempted to do it in the orson Wells way ,more cold..and less emphasized in gesture...´
just that:)

Very well done! And now I know where that "If you prick us do we not bleed.." thing comes from. It was spoken in the movie The Pianist as well!

really? thank you....i enjoyed this monologue.

Wow I really enjoyed this video. You spoke the lines so well and I love your accent.
You really managed to express some of Shylocks pain. Religious intolerance and prejudice is wrong. I really like Shakespeare and I'm glad you do.
