@luv4manga What's really strange, is Uzumaki, like most of Junji Ito's work, is almost completely devoid of the usual cartoony expressions and ridiculousness found in most Manga and Anime. The movie Uzumaki, is far more like a manga than the actual manga in that respect, I was HORRIFIED by Jack in the Box, not amused by the clever camera angles and silly music! It still sorta works though, this movie is what got me into manga, or at least junji ito.

Spent 3 hours reading the whole manga. Thought it was amazing but I would have liked to see some more with suichi and kaire's ( srry I don't know how to spell their names) relationship. Those 2 other guys who had a crush on the girl showed her more attention than her boyfriend. They could have at least kissed. Anyway the ending sucked. The concept of the spirals made no sense and did they die or what?

Sorry this story does not contain romance, go play a visual novel or read a romance manga if you want to see that kind of stuff, also, it wasn't them, it was the spiral who had them controlled, that is why they liked her.

@canelitojuan First off you don't have to be bitchy. And second of all, last time I checked Kirie and Shuichi were a couple, and the category "couple" is included in ROMANCE. If there was no romance in this story, then there was no need for the author to make them a couple. And, it doesn't matter if they spiral controlled those guys or not, it's still a shame they showed her more attention than her own boyfriend.

I just have to say, that, I am excited to finally finish watching this movie, though I don't expect much, I've read the manga, and it seems they took a somewhat comical approach to this, which to be honest, I wouldn't have filmed this in live action, it is just far too bizarre and I don't think it could have turned out much different... lol

Why do people keep complaining about this is suckier than the manga? The movie has about 2 hours to actually elaborates out the whole story of a like 10 volumes long. Many things need to get cut or briefed so the whole story line can fit in such little time. If you like the exact story and everything that looks exactly like the manga, go watch anime then. Stop whinning. If the movie gets you to puke and stuff, it does it job perfectly. You people need to differentiate things. Seriously.

The way I see it, the problem in the Movie, is the exact opposite of what you said.

Rather than having to CUT parts to make it fit in a 2 hour movie, The problem is that they had to ADD a crapload of pointless parts to make it fit in a 2 hour movie.

It's been almost 20 minutes of the movie, and there hasn't been a SINGLE interesting event. And they Waste a lot of time in pointless events, with no actual relevance to the story.

And also... The Manga is only 3 volumes long, not "like 10."

I mean... Sure... There's the suspense factor, but I think that 10 seconds is more than enough...

UZUMAKI has only 3 volumes. and it's not just about "making you puke," a film inspired by a book should be true to the story, characters, plot, scenes, and all. Lord of the Rings wasn't cut or briefed; all three movies are over 3 hours long each!

I'm not trying to defend the whiners, though. this is the first time I've seen the movie. i just finished the manga! whee!!

Yay, someone grasped the concept of this film. People always overlook the fun of this film and simply compare it to the manga. It's not about the manga, it's about spirals.
