Why people keep arguing about Why there were south and north Vietnam? What's the point? Vietnam is united already. Therefore there is nothing such called North and South Vietnam anymore. There is only one Vietnam so SHUT THE F*** OFF whenever U guys come up with the idea of North and South Vietnam. WE'RE NOT LIKE KOREA where there are such things called NORTH and SOUTH KOREA.

@superman75 Well it depends on how you see it, but I don't really see how it's represents humiliation and betrayal. :/ And it's kind of insulting when you call it that because many Vietnamese still consider this flag as the "Vietnamese flag." Mainly because the red flag represents communism.

You don't think the yellow flag means humilliation, then that's your opinion and i respect that, but it almost means that my country is still divided, and those people has died for nothing. Communist or not, Vietnam should have only one flag and since it has been regconised as the red one, please, just keep it that way.

Before the Vietnamese War of the 1960s, there was a North Vietnam that was communist, and a South Vietnam that was democracy. In the end, North Vietnam won the war and took over South Vietnam which became a communist state.

It was the flag of the former State of Vietnam from 1949 to 1955 and later of the Republic of Vietnam (South Vietnam) from 1955 until 1975 - then the South surrendered to the North. A year later Vietnam was unified. Then the flag of North Vietnam (red with a yellow star) became the flag of a united Vietnam, which is the official flag nowadays...

@Azzurro0731 You use GoogleTrans huh? Your "Vietnamese" so hard to read but I can understand what do you meant, though ^-^. Its title "Việt Nam gấm hoa" can be tranlated as you see " Gorgeous Vietnam" ( when the song translated to English, it lost about 30% of its meaning, thou).

The word "gấm hoa" in Vietnamese mean "brocade"_a precious material to make clothes -> Our country Vietnam is such a precious thing that we have to protect/ don't let it dirty... Hope it help u ^_^
