  • its interesting to see how they keep oiled when running, you can see how in most of the time they run for years

  • is there copper in there or what ???

  • Ive always found it eerie how when you open up an ancient compressor and the inside parts have not seen the world or light or anything for like 50 years. it would be kind of creepy how they have been sealed up,inside a refrigerator for so long... wow...

  • @AcaAllertor127 yeah, I've got some old Kelvinator ones like that, never seen daylight for decades!

  • @AcaAllertor127

    Time Capsules, LOL.

  • Gdday Folks!, i always wait for that when i watch your videos :)

  • @VIDEOEATER8U lol I think ppl would hang me if I stopped saying that now :D

  • how did you get the compressor apart to look in it like that

  • @millerliteman96 I used a 4" grinder and slitting wheel to cut the weld around the case top.

  • That little compressor is a danfoss. It is the same as the one in the danfoss slushee machine condensing unit.

  • What type of oil do these usually use? I read somewhere they use mineral oil but I wasn't sure

  • the comp with no id could be matsushita electric co singapore.

  • does it contain freon or isobutane? What is the oily liquid dripping?i need to build an airpump with aone of these fridge engines.

  • oil shover hehe :D

  • Top of the smaller one really reminds me of a skull lol.

  • I have a question: how to get the piston out of a small fridge compressor ?

  • usually they are assembled on a hydraulic press, with the crankshaft and motor rotor being pressed together permenantly.

best way would be to cut the crank shaft off just below the big end, before the motor end bearing.

  • lol, i love junk too, but usualy it is salvagable, i once repaire an altenater in a small moped

  • I think it could be a British made compressor, the top half, and the shape of the compressor housing looks like the one in my 1971 bar fridge, it has a British made compressor that looks almost identical to the one I saw in this vid

  • I have a feeling its Electrolux, or made for them anyway. The little ones on the bottle chillers are the same inside, just smaller.

  • I'm happy you had fun with that stuff. lol you made it smoke.

  • lol it didn't like the run cap!

  • i clould tell.lol

  • I may be wrong but i think you connected the cap in series with the starting winding and in paralel with the big main winding. Mundane logic says to me the other way around would have been okay.

  • your prolly right!, the running gear was from a different compressor all together, I just plugged it in til it ran :D

I still ahve that compressor, I should run it till it burns :D

  • Or pressure torture it. =D

  • Btw, i have one of the very same crank type. Only three moving parts in all. Cannot be simplier than this.

  • nice one's

  • I must be your number 1 fan..I can't get enough of this sort of junk..!

  • your not alone man!, even though its junk, it fascinates the hell outta me!. if its a different design to the last one its fascinating!

Its the most ordanaty things that are interseting when you see whats inside.

  • Hearing this is exactly how youtube works..so many people can't understand why vloggers are so popular, well it's the same with junk.

A good vlogger is like a good bit of junk, always a surprise inside.

  • I never really thought much of vlogging either but it sure works!

  • Exactly how I view it too man! I am REALLY craving getting another one to cut open now!
