So, How do you make it work with mapcycle.txt because if you set the launch options to +map (mapname) the mapcycle doesn't even run, and if you delete +map altogether my server doesn't even start?

@JuhisXDDDDDD A server that is up for as long as you keep it up. The opposite is what is known as a Listen Server, which is up for as long as the server owner is up, then once they leave it goes bye-bye.

I downlaoded everything with the HldsUpdateTool, downloaded the server.cfg and put it under the cfg folder. I have a dynamic IP so I created a host name on no ip com. I also have the program runnign to keep by IP up to date.

I can connect to my server thorugh lan but my friends can not over the internet.

Last night I left my server files to download and I came back to see that after 8 hours it was frozen on like 42.35% I tried it again and still it freezes but not in the same place. This time it didn't even get close to 40% How do I fix this? It doesn't seem to be downloading.

i did everything above and my friends cant see my server. i can join it myself but my friends cant join it. i forwarded port 27000-27020 in the router... i made new rules in the firewall to put those ports open for both TCP and UDP and people still dont see it D: please help!

@woktie If you have an antivirus make sure you disable it for a while,also try disabling your firewall too just to test it.Make sure you have sv_lan 0 on your server.cfg

@woktie all you do is open the ports that it says when the server begins to load up. not the range between the 2 ports. for example mine uses 27015\27005 so i port 27015 and 27005 only.

@AhZaiWaGeng I am not a pro(as a matter of fact 3 years before I spent some time trying to figure this out myself).Also to change the server name download the server.cfg (link in description) then put it inside your cfg folder (which is inside your server folder),and finally open it with notepad and you will find a command saying hostname after that put the name of your server.

@darkaz2 ahh very easy fix all u have to do is change the location at the end of the command. for example to update my server i have to get rid of c:\tf2 and put this in.. "C:\Users\Tom\Desktop\TF2" this is where i have my server installed. so just replace c:\tf2 with where your server is installed

Also this site testmy(dot)net told me my download speed average was 5.37 mb/s but when I download stuff on steam or the webs it usually peeks at about 1mb/s but lately at 2mb/s. More importantly, it says my upload speed averages at 1.46, which the description says is sufficient (as well as my computer, cpu is 1.84 ghz, so I might invest in a faster one but it is dual core, and i think 3gb ram although "system" says-
