Gridiron is just choreographed rugby with clumsy tacking & men in tights. It's the stupidest, slowest, most untechnical field sport in the world (even less so than normal rugby). Any sport that requires you to read a book before playing isn't a real sport.

There's obviously a world of difference between showing adverts during a natural stoppage in play & designing a sport to have dozens of TV timeouts especially so you can fit in as much commercials as you can..

One more thing to add about you marching band thing, the marching band plays at college basketball games too. Are you going to say that sport is boring too? I will admit the NBA is pretty damn boring but college basketball is exciting and a lot more fun to watch.
In a team sport involving a ball, surely "action" is defined by how much stuff the ball does, if the ball is not in play, then there is no action - by definition.
Regarding basketball, i kinda find it a little boring to watch coz of the fact that 80% of it is just back & forth scoring, none of which is really important until the last quarter maybe...but i appreciate their skills.

When i was in America i watched an American Football match for the first time. Me and my rugby friends couldnt stop laughing as you stop play every time someone gets tackled and cover yourselves in pillows. We left 10 minutes into the game. Possibly the most boring 10 mins of my entire life. Hotdogs were awsome though!!
Soccer should only be played by females wearing string bikinis. Than i would definately watch it. But seeing a bunch of guys kicking around a ball getting maybe 8 shots a game isnt all that exciting. Plus the guys are bunch of pussies faking injuries all game.

Hockey's the exact opposite of soccer when it comes to publicity. It is SO much more interesting to watch & play. Yet due to the pricing of everything that comes along with it, not a lot of people playing the sport unless you live in Canada, Russia, Sweden..etc.

One of the problems in the low scoring in soccer. Thier used to be more goals scored in Soccer. Before 1990, all world cup finals had at least 3 goals scored. I wonder if their are also fewer shots on goal, or if the goalies are so much better? I have ideas on how to make the game better, which I won't go on here. So I'm not going to really address something that makes no sense because the comparison is dumb. Other sport views are going down, soccer is going up. Look it up.
Oh and Soccer is the most physically demanding sport I can think of really and I play hockey, lacrosse, basketball, and soccer. Tell me how many football/basketball players can run for 45 minutes straight, have a 10 minute break, run for another 45 minutes. No water breaks, no swapping lines back and forth. Probably not even 25%.

When i was in America i watched an American Football match for the first time. Me and my rugby friends couldnt stop laughing as you stop play every time someone gets tackled and cover yourselves in pillows. We left 10 minutes into the game. One of the problems in the low scoring in soccer. Thier used to be more goals scored in Soccer. Before 1990, all world cup finals had at least 3 goals scored. I wonder if their are also fewer shots on goal, or if the goalies are so much better? I have ideas on how to make the game better, which I won't go on here. Football is pretty popular in America. The World Cup (US vs England) had 3xs as many viewers IN AMERICA than Game 6 and 7 of the NBA finals. So you can't sit here and say that Americans aren't football fans. The MLS viewers have expaned 3x's over the past 4 years and new teams are going to be added over the next 2 years. In the past 2 years, at the requests of Americans, the MLS has added 2 new teams in Seattle and Philly. 3 New teams have been announced over the next 2-3 years. You're an idiot.

Oh and Soccer is the most physically demanding sport I can think of really and I play hockey, lacrosse, basketball, and soccer. Tell me how many football/basketball players can run for 45 minutes straight, have a 10 minute break, run for another 45 minutes. No water breaks, no swapping lines back and forth. Probably not even 25%.

@VladiKun The spewing of randome facts is really annoying. People do that with a lot of things. When they don't have an opinion of their own, or don't know what they are talking about, they parrot what the media says rather than just keeping their mouth shut.

soccer shoved down your throat- are you kidding? i have to sit through endless baseball football and basketball ads replays and shows- soccer is the punk rock sport of choice- joe strummer and bob marley said that "soccer" was the only working class sport left in the world" by the way the damned played a special world cup show in england last week- if its good enough for capt sensible its good enough for me!

@salvadory There is NOTHING "punk" about Soccer at all. Quite the opposite actually, because Punks wouldn't prance around like little boys, take dives, strip when they score a goal, or have a closet full of Armani suits.
No, Soccer is not Punk at all. Hockey is punk. A man's sport, where the athletes don't pretend to be hurt and cry like little bitches and get taken off on stretchers. A Hockey player hurts himself for real and plays the rest of the damn game.

Couldn't agree with you more. And good point about the media not having any other taps to dry; Gary Coleman and Michael Jackson's death just barely getting stale by now. For people like me, these headlines got stale the day they happened.

its only all 4 years that what it makes it so special. I am not a big soccerfan but when worldcup is coming i watch my countries games and read the news. The world cups are always exiting. People give their best to represent their country. its not like the other soccer cups which are only moneys sake for the clubs. You cant compare it with a super bowl.

What is wrong with wanting to be successful and striving to achieve more? Everyone wants to be successful, some people go after it and get it, others daydream about it and criticize people the people out there getting it.
