It's just that in the "Butterfly" era her nodules that she's had since childhood really started to take over and her voice got raspy and her tone dropped. Her voice is really starting to improve again though. Listen to her performances of Emotions and Make It Happen from her latest tour "Angels Advocate". They're amazing!
