Ahhh...St. Anger, had a pretty good chance to be a good album. There were a several good riffs on that album. They needed a real bassist, Kirk Hammett, Lars to play on a working drum kit, a real producer there, and more creative influence than a just out of rehab James.

St. Anger is unique in a lot of ways, they were trying to experiment with different music, without caring what the fans would think... In my opinion its a kickass album, Its the closest to Thrash since ...And Justice For All. like rockandroll519 says.. It's heavy as fuck, and with better drums and a solo in live performances, It will shut the fuck up all the trolls.

@cieplakupka for me, the problem with it is that it has poor production, like the snare for example (whether thats deliberate or not) and lacks guitar solos, which in turn, causes james to repeat himself more than previously to fill out the songs... It just sounds unfinnished...

Took me a bit to accept they were Metallica albums but once I did I was pissed that I hadn't been listening to them earlier. DM is good, but I wouldn't put it as their best.
