That's the real deal. I haven't been in Mali since '01, and I can't wait to get back. I think about it every day. Honestly, as much as I love that singing because I love the Malian people... I really like the Malian music with some western twist: Ali Farka Touré, Toumani Diabete, and the likes. Prayerfully, I'll learn to really love it all!!!
I think that due to our lack of exposure and experience with other cultures, it is very easy to forget our deep human connections to one another. Whether a people throw goats off of churches or shoot firecrackers out of their butts (Jackass), we still share the common desires, hopes, and creativity that motivate us to DO WHATEVER it is that we do; as individuals, or as a community. I love knowing that I am member of the fascinatingly powerful human race.
i dont care what other people say, these two women are amazing and have real talent and very unique voices. this vid really shows ou what kind of styles they have in West Africa. i like it a lot. =]
I am awed by the video & what it represents. We see & hear peoples of the world that we have never seen or heard from directly like this. The more I hear it, the more I like it. It is quite foreign & new to me, makes me think about it...a lot.
Absolutely amazing. Wonderful how they stay in their chosen pitch and key without a piano or any other "western" tonal accompinament. Beautiful music.
Maybe the haters just didn't listen to the whole thing. I wasn't very interested in it either, then at about 1:45 into it, I like it. Not that I'm saying they're right to post something bad, I think if you can't say something nice you shouldn't say it at all. Does that contradict myself? hmm. Anyways, it WAS worth watching! Thanks for putting it up.
dont group me in with skatezero but that is the shittest thing ive ever heard - so shit that had i been there i would found it hard not to end there wailing with my universal remote contoller (a housebrick)
Whats so funny is that some fools try to call it ugly when in Africa, but you could here the same sounding singing style in in China, highly influenced from this region in Africa, and all of sudden to them it becomes exotic. LOL! Such culturally ignorant narrow minded people. Feel sorry for them.
i don't care where someone comes from, its still shit,& for the record exotic means: alien/foreign/from another part of the world - so everyone has an 'exotic' culture to anyone else not from that area. its not cultural ignorance, its opinion, im sure wherever this was shot its appreciated, but then the spanish like chucking goats off of church's & i dont see that catching on in the rest of the world too quick.
Don't mind them, they're not worth paying attention to. They really love it, thats why their always ALL UP IN OUR STUFF. As much as they say they don't like it, they're always moved to keep coming to view our stuff. LOL! Could you post more of these please? Got any KORA players? Its so beautiful!
It usually takes them years for their brains to comprehend it, then after about 20-30 years when they finally do, all of a sudden they want to take it, or call it caucasoid, or something else, so they can try to claim credit for it. Poor people without an exotic culture. Ya feel sorry they have to stoop to that level to feel good about themselves. LOL! But post more post more!

I would say that culture has a common source./\ Africa!!! Before the Indian race was birthed into existence these Africans were here singing.
So forget Islam it all originates with the African!!!!!

Very nice. The singing was great and so were the drums. It would have been better if the mic system didn't garble their voices.
