@JakeandElwoodBlues He isn't taking messages any longer. I really do hope the man found the peace he seemed to have those last few months. This video was not a criticism of Joe Paterno. You can put fault on McQueary or fault on the University heads but Joe, in either case, but just sort of caught in the middle. Yes, he could have done more but McQueary had a more immediate chance to do something and the university head had an actual responsibility to do something. Joe followed the rules.
@mrdeansden sean your absolutely right i have it in this case as well. Say your a women at a office job and some guy comes up and grabs your ass is the first thing you do call the cops and tell them he sexually harassed you? i think even if your trying to say you would we both know you wouldn't do that first, the first thought is i have to TELL MY BOSS ABOUT THIS, and thats exactly what jo pa did in death everyone will damn his name and i bet after a while they will think and remember it as he,
@mrdeansden they will swear up and down in the end that joe paterno actually raped the little boy in the shower not JERRY SANDUSKY if you all forget who really did thhe crime then what the fuck is the point of even caring about children's lives then!!!!
This is so funny. And, I love Jo Pa. The red head could have stopped this whole wheel of fortune from spinning out of control, if he would have just "manned up" and stopped the crime while in progress, or would have gone to the State College Police. I saw him, in a video clip, attending Joe's memorial service. That took some guts, as he was most definitely a persona-non-grata.
@AnneLiesveld I think the memorial service was the public event they showed on ESPN and the funeral itself was a seperate event. But, McQueary showing up at either was an odd act. It makes you wonder if maybe he felt the same love for Joe as everyone else and telling Joe was, to him and the community, better than telling the local police force...maybe.
@mrdeansden I wonder that too now that you say it. I have no doubt he had love though for JP. Frankly, it is kind of sickening that JS is putting MM in the position of having to answer JP regarding what JS did. Guessing JS wouldn't be adult enough to admit it now considering he thinks he is funny. I don't feel that MM feels that what is happened is funny or he hasn't showed that side of late. I feel MM gets how serious the situation is or maybe he is just handling it totally diff.
I love this video. I was thinking this ever since it happened. If McQueary just called the cops and not brought joe into it joe would have probably never have been fired and lost his will to live. Mike McQueary Killed Joe Paterno and now has to lived the rest of his life knowing he killed the greatest college football coach of all time.
@yankeesrock16531 i was thinking mcqueary is a large guy, if he would have picked up a barbell and caved in the skull of this sick pig sandusky,he would have been a hero and would have saved the taxpayers millions of dollars
@100crawma That man's inaction is the stuff of legend. He saw this horrible act take place and did nothing, so I think it is reasonable to ask what exactly would have to take place in front of Mike McQueary before he would decide to do something?
@yankeesrock16531 It was NOT Mike McQueary that killed Coach Paterno. Coach Paterno died of lung cancer. It was a NATURAL CAUSE!!! so why don't you stop blaming other people? Leave the poor guy alone. Mike was not even fully positive of what he saw. He did was he was supposed to do, and what he thought was right, which was calling Joe. But it was NOT Mike who killed Joe Paterno. He, unfortunately, passed away from a rare form of lung cancer. Cancer kills, not Mike McQueary!!
@yankeesrock16531 I can't believe that knowing what MM saw and didn't respond to you say that his killing a winning record coach is his big problem in life. Mid-30s young happy enjoying life probably married and now realizing he is partially responsible for major harm to young kids. yup his big problem is the death of the greatest college football coach. atleast your priorities aren't out of order.
@lawhill1986 He did at the time. He was suspended or something of the sort I believe. Maybe he has been let go since then. Why don't you look into that for us?
I looked but didn't see anything about being fired, though I assume he left for obvious reasons. He's off the roster on their website. I'm still mad at how they can fire Paterno but not do anything to McQueary when they both essentially ignored the problem and passed on the responsibilities. A damn shame
@lawhill1986 Thanks for checking. I still put a bit more blame on McQueary because he actually saw it taking place and had no reason to suspect Sandusky may be innocent. Joe Paterno still had to weigh McCreary's word against a decades long friendship with Sandusky in order to reach a conclusion.
@mrdeansden Part of me thinks that way too when I think about MM seeing JS doings things like he was alledged to have done. I get that puts kids in a vulnerable place, but at the best it puts MM in a horrible place as well. He was probably very aware of JS and JP relationship so at best he was in a horrid position with respect to knowing he was doing things. I am guessing the yuckiness of it all eats at him.
@DoublemintRepro Honestly guy, very few people own up to mistakes even when they come from a foul mood. You have what Penn State lacks in general: Remorse for your actions. No one at Penn State felt bad until this mess was made public. Good for you.
@DoublemintRepro That seems a bit harsh...but I suppose you have a point there. Sandusky, while employed by the university, was paid from the general pool of funds which would include student tuition and government grants.
"Joseph V Paterno testified that the graduate assistant was very upset. Paterno called Tim Curely, PSU Athletic Director, to his home the very next day, and reported to him that the graduate assistant had seen Jerry Sandusky in the showers fondling or doing something of a SEXUAL NATURE to a young boy"
If that had been Paterno's naked grandson he would have called the POLICE.
Joe Paterno will forever be remembered for turning his back on child sex abuse!
I can understand where you're coming from with your video. But beating up on Mike McQueary? We risk turning our society into one similar to China. A few weeks ago there was a situation where a little girl was run over by two trucks and 5 to 6 people walked by without helping for fear they would get into trouble if they did. One good Samaritan eventually helped but it was too late.
Blame the perpetrator not someone for not stepping up to the plate (baseball, I know.)
@MrFaisel34 McQueary is guilty in the same way as Paterno. Both men had a responsibility to pursue this until justice was done. McQueary exceeds Paterno's guilt, however, because he failed to stop the crime while witnessing it.
Now imagine another who has witnessed what happened to McQueary. And this next person is in a similar situation within a powerful University or Corporation. They will weigh losing a career against being marginalized by the public for not doing more. We as a society may end up with SOME people shutting up and never saying anything at all.
@MrFaisel34 Thereby making those individuals the only people more corrupt in their reasoning than Mike McQueary. Most likely, others did witness Jerry Sandusky doing something horrible. It was probaly not just the janitor and McQueary. So, these "hide and wait" people you fear creating most likely already exist. We know McQueary is a villian. While those who said nothing in addition to doing nothing may not face public scorn, they still must live with their inaction.
@mrdeansden It stopped as he was witnessing it, as soon as Sandusky realized it was being witnessed. I suppose one would expect that. McQueary did however leave the boy with Sandusky.
@mrdeansden Agree but how is Sandusky not even mentioned. It is like arguing over which friend should have stopped a kid from cheating and the cheating kid is not held accountable.
@IvorBarry I suppose you have a point there. I will call it a minor detail in order to defend myself, but perhaps I do have an ignorance of the proper nicknames for colleges in that state.
This guy was too worried about ruining his chances of promoting to full time coach if he did go ahead and turn Sandusky in for what he saw him doing to that innocent boy. I still say Penn State will lose their football program for lack of institutional control. There are too many people to blame. Sandusky is the one that committed the crimes against these children. Everyone else chose to ignore it and worry only about themselves & winning. Would Paterno want Sandusky to babysit his granddkids?
@mikeandike517 I think it is possible McQueary could have agreed to hold back this information back so long as a full time position was made available to him.
Mike McQUEERy is a retarded Irish boozer. I don't rust anyone who looks like Carrot Top. McQueary isn't a whistle blower. He is just a gutless maggot.
@Jefgg He was promised a grad degree and a cozy lifetime job assistant coaching the Nittany Lions, in his hometown, and the team he quarterbacked himself; plus preservation of the pristine reputation of the football program, its Head Coach, and of PSU. What would you do?!? Yeah, you'd say "screw that, I'm going to the cops myself".
@mrdeansden I agree with that and yet I think about how I see everyone say "If I was in that position......" like a hypothetical situation and yet for the life of me I can't imagine what it would be like to be a young asssistant and to walk in on a lower level boss who you respected and know that they were doing something and have to recognize that you are seeing it in a bad way and report it to your higher boss. or worse police. You have to realize that MM this isn't a hypothetical.
