@thefanaticx i didn't mean that the perfection by the cocaine i mean he become a world champion in kata in such young age . but for the matter of cocaine he's not absolutely an insperition for karatekas and for nobody
such an awesome unsu! i love watching his unsu and never get tired of it. wish i could do this half as well as he did. a shame he died, especially because of cocaine. everyone has their weaknesses, just a shame that coke was his. think he could've been one of the greats. RIP, osu!
You have to keep in mind that this is "contest Karate", faster, higher, wider. The original concept of Karate (or traditional Budo in general) is a very different one.
But neverless, that performance is outstanding, an incredible amount of Kime and perfection. R.I.P. Michael.
I agree with you, it is a contest, so I was just talking about the Milon's Performance. But all that guys who have competed against him were amazed by his katas.
The name is Deception Kata not hidden technique kata. There are no hidden moves, just alot of deception to defend against multiple opponents at one time.
Yep you are right KargBob, this kata is called Cloud Hand in english. Also it's the only kata in shotokan that contains the thecnique mawashi geri;), and there are two mawashi geri in it.
Ok you dumass so tell me, what have hidden techniques in the kata to do with my argument about superficial movements???
You are talking about hidden techniques in the kata so I think you want to talk about Kata-Bunkai. Have you ever seen him live explaining Kata-Bunkai? I have and it was horrible! This French toast had no idea of any application.
Beside this do you know who he died? He died because he was a fucking Koks Junkie!!!
what is wrong with people on this web as soon someone says something different they reply back being rude, calm down hot head,no i never seen him alive but i m sure he was good to watch, personally i fellow warriors like valdesi and maurinio, who are you to judge him anyway,do u really think u are better than me,where are your trophies, medals ect..
we can all be good with our mouth and you are a good example
by the way don t bother answer me as i m going to do the same since now scum
That's odd, when i wanted to get good at basketball, the coach made me shoot with an actual ball opposed to performing a kata with 'hidden techniques'.
Excellent question! The kata "hidden technique" was probably to allow practice without explicitly showing the techniques, because of laws enforced by Japan on Okinawa. Today there is no NEED to hide the techniques, so the reason behind kata training is to preserve the wider range of techniques & applications. Without kata, karate-ka focus only on competition-scoring techniques which would weaken the art.
So coach is right for basketball, but karate is different by its history & circumstance.
Even if this was the supposed intended function of the kata, you need to provide evidence that practitioners of the kata have been able to decipher the techniques and actually utilize them.
The reality is, there are far more superior methods for teaching techniques than through hidden meanings.
I believe there MAY be more effective training methods. My point is that kata training serves a purpose beyond "being traditional". Today's purpose is to expose karateka to a wider range of techniques than if only the "sports" techniques are learned. This is why I believe kata must remain a compulsory aspect of traditional karate.
As for evidence, I can only say that I have trained under a number of instructors who have translated kata and taught useful applications & concepts from them.
How can they be sure the techniques that they claim to be hidden within the kata are the exact techniques that the original encoders intended, if they were passed down through no other medium?
There is more than one correct bunkai within the kata, so recovering the "exact" original intention is less critical than it may seem, as long as the interpretation has been made by somebody suitably qualified, and that it is taught well. For myself I have chosen to learn bunkai mainly through Japanese instructors who trained directly under Nakayama (who in turn was trained by Funakoshi).
Kata drives all karateka to make sense of the same techniques, hence a standard syllabus of learning.
If the taught bunkai differ from school to school this is not problematic, as long as the bunkai have been approved by suitably qualified sensei (I don't mean the local 3rd Dan club instructor).
No two karate masters perform karate the same way, but the principles remain the same across all traditional schools of training. Hence variations in bunkai (reflecting individual preferences) is no more significant than the small differences between qualified pilots in the air force.
Anyways, I need to see examples of specific katas showing specific real techniques (meaning you must also provide evidence that these techniques contained within the kata have been used in a real fight).
How you could go about proving to me that a certain technique is the correct interpretation from a certain movement in the kata I'm not quite sure of.
There are plenty of group bunkai' on youtube to get the proof you need. The French, and egyptians do Unsu in a group attack at the ends of the Katas. I hope you get some idea of why katas are so important. Defending ones self is not about the kata we are taught but it's about adaptation to a situation.
bernardolf, ce kata fait peut-être parti du style Shito Ryu, mais il fait également parti du Shotokan. Les 2 styles sont purement japonais, il est donc normal que nous ayons des kata en commun.
