But, the real rate is much higher because when people lose their unemployment benefits that number will deceivingly go down. But, the real rate is much higher because when people lose their unemployment benefits that number will deceivingly go down. For example, if 500,000 claims were made in 2008 and about 300,000 were refused, that's about 60%
On the other hand, if 1,000,000 claims were made in 2009 and about 450,000 were refused then that's 45%.
You have to also mention how many total claims were made. I don't know, do you?

U.S. can no longer spend so much money on the military, it was the very nature of Cold War spending that bankrupted Russia. Deficits are not about averages. During Bush's last term the fiscal deficit ended at nearly $500 billion dollars in Oct. Shortly thereafter TARP was passed in Dec. adding another $750 billion to that number in an instant. What you seem to be misleading about is that even before Obama took office that deficit was already at 1.3 trillion and the economy was fighting a recession with massive job losses. All this happened before Obama became president.

We buy our children's educational supplies (that Taxes already Paid for) so schools can pay a bunch of educated morons working in top heavy administration jobs their high 6 figure wages while on permanent sabatical. The rest goes to DC to pay $100K booze bills (at best) and buy rose colored glasses for folk who don't know who they work for. And thanks to our Education System we have a whole generation that can't see the real problem. Let's Tax their Soda and Dumb them down some more. GOOD PLAN!

ok, so this moron wants to change nclb ( great idea) , but he wants to punish teachers when kids cant learn. ANyone know how hard it would be to get teachers in "poor" and "mostly minority schools" then. This guy needs to wake up and realize how lucky his half white rear is to even have the job he does. Yes NCLB sucks, but you cant punish teachers for stupid kids it starts at home with parents. IF daddy aint there seems mroe than just a teacher issue if he is in jail, dead or on dope

This President is all talk. If he was serious about education he would push vouchers to create "competition" which he speaks about so much in his healthcare spendorama. What will really be important in the future is OPPORTUNITY. Many other countries are highly educated but because of corruption and lack of opportunity they have mastered degree garbage collectors picking up trash for the elite....

You wanna help kids? How about getting rid of MTV, and keep kids off of their phones. How about making sure the PARENTS are doing their jobs, instead of just dropping the kids off and thinking that thier responsibility is done for the day. I'm sure there are plenty of good teachers getting ready to lose their jobs because of alot of irresponsible parents in this country, just as i'm sure that some teachers should be leaving.

O is the head of our military (scary). The Navy right now is paying home schooled students an extra bonus to sign up for the military because they on average far out perform the public school students. O should listen to the Navy on this and dump the public schools and privatize the whole educational system. Less violence, less teen pregnancies, less failure educate the students.

Look at the time that America had the most literate population and the best educated, it was the period before public schools can into existence, back when we had nothing but private schools. Nowadays, 50% of all high school students don't graduate. 1 out of 8 can't read, another 1 out of 8 cannot even read above a 5th grade reading level. Public schools are not producing talent, they're destroying it. A classroom is only as good as it's slowest student.
