I found this same trick on my own. somah in Zeta just after you win will repair at 100% VATS her dead in the head take your cash back and she gets back up! repair the rest of your equipment AND keep your cash :D also to note this was on xbox 360 so it works in all versions of the game. it seemed like the cash retrieved fluctuated tho I didnt note how much I had b4 and after but the number seemed off...

I did this a few times, the ripper broke and he unequipped it. It’s also a very small target and there is a very high chance you will kill him trying to shoot at it.

A much better way of doing this is to give him one Microfusion Cell, and he will equip a Plasma or Laser Rifle, a much bigger target to shoot at. I never failed shooting it. He will also switch to a more repaired rifle so he won't unequip it. Also better to use the Chinese Stealth Armor to remain hidden.

i gave my alien blaster to that kid outside of little lamplight and i "forgot" i had 100 bottlecap mines, frag mines and plasma mines and i "accidently" shot him and he ran into the mines and he went superman but dead and i didnt manage to find the crash site. And i saved the game after the explosion, dont know why.

@sweetcrosby Yes, but the game doesn't take into consideration how some weapons, such as rippers, sometimes go inside the npc's body. See that little spot of the ripper in the video that goes inside his leg and then how the blade comes out again? That little spot is where VATS will target 4 times out of 5, which causes the bullet to actually hit the person rather than the weapon. At least in my experiences.

Yea...seems like too much work. I just became filty stinking rich. Its so easy. Whenever you have a house, sell everything in your inventory that is of absolutley no value then put 3/4 of the caps in your desk (or sfe if you have tenpenny tower's suite) and dopn't spend that money, just bulid up on it. I had over 10,000 caps at level 8.

@flightofstitch reverse pickpocket a melee weapon, get him to attack you... he'll pull out the melee weapon, surrender, he'll keep the weapon out. be sure his weapon never breaks. give him new ones on a regular basis

@aclamadas That does direct damage to them, so you can only do it a few times before they die. Just as a note, you can also do it with paralyzing palm, bio gas canisters, and cryo-weapons. You can do this with any weapon that has a knockdown or paralyze effect...

This technique can also be done with Gauss Rifle, because it knocks down anybody if you get a critical hit

I must've replied to this exact comment a dozen times. There is SPLASH DAMAGE on the gauss rifle. You MAY end up KILLING the target. The victory rifle is:

1. Easier to get, (5 minutes vs. an hour)

2. Less Risky (SPLASH DAMAGE)

3. .308 rounds are less expensive than MF cells.

Interesting I'm about to try this on Haley in Point Lookout right now so I can steal the caps back that I gave him to repair my weapons to 100%, I'll letcha know how it turns out. All my stats are as maxed as the game allows (every SPECIAL stat is 10, every skill is 100 besides melee and unarmed) and I can't seem to pickpocket ANYTHING successfully except on rare occasions... I don't understand what could be the problem. This method looks like it should work so here it goes...

do the glitch, take the ammo back, give him another weapon and ammo for it, and start a fight with him. he'll switch to the weapon he has ammo for, then either put away your weapon to make him not hostile, or if that doesnt work run away for 3 days, come back and do the glitch again to get the blaster... see if that works...

if you look closely at the video, you can see th ripper kind of goes insid of his armor at the hip. This makes you hit him before the ripper, this killing him if you use VATS. Either use regular and target the tip, or give him a larger, bulkier, stronger melee weapon to make it easier to hit.
