  • are you guys retarted read the comments the still pictures are his 6.01 clearance and the video is the 6.16 attempt

  • @JanJan -- the opening billboards say what you're about to see.......he clears Millrose/Australian record 6.01, then takes 3 stabs at WR.

  • @JanJan -- the opening billboards say what you're about to see.......he clears Millrose/American record 6.01, then takes 3 stabs at WR.

  • It's better to rename this video : Steven Hooker 6m16 (failed)

  • The (borrowed) stills were of his winning (6.01) vault. The video is from his 3 failed attempts to clear heights above that, including 6.16.

  • at 1:18 the sign clearly says 6.16, not 6.01????

  • I think Tom Skipper has the best chance he vaulted 18'3" in high school

  • Nice hooker

  • 1:18 WTF!!?? the sign say HOOKER!!

  • @ElectricSentry123

    That's the vaulter's name

  • @ElectricSentry123 his last name is Hooker, idiot.

  • Jack whitt will jump 5.90m in college.

  • Jack Whitt will be the one to beat once he gets out of college the kid vaults 18 feet as a sr n high school... only 6 others have done this ever look him up on youtube jack whitt texas relays 2009

  • I was there for the Jesuit Fordham Prep vs. Farrell 4 x 8 relay, this was way cooler. If he lifted his chest on the 2nd attempt just a bit more, he would have had it

  • lol i get it

  • actually this jump doesn't make him number 4 in history 1. Sergey Bubka 6.15 2. Maskim Tarasov 6.05 3. Dmitriy Markov 6.05 4. Brad Walker 6.04 5. Okkert Brits 6.03 6. Jeff Hartwig 6.03 7. Rodion Gataullin 6.02 8. Igor Tradenkov 6.01 9. Tim Mack 6.01 10. Steve Hooker 6.01
  • Indoors. Sorry. My error

  • when did tim mack jump 6 01?

  • i'm not sure? i forget, it's in jan johnsons book

"an illustrated history of the pole vault", look it up it's a great one

  • right after the games, in '04. In italy, i think

  • Mack jumped 6.01 at Monaco just after the 2004 OG's

  • @olhspvault hooker jumped 6.06m indoors at the rebook games in boston in '09. I want to say. 6.06 is a fact the actual location may be wrong.

  • Hooker is in a class of his own at the moment. Just needs a few comps on a longer pole and its his. I think he's enjoying the consistant conditions that indoors offers which you really need for the pole vault.

  • hooker is a machine, he is aussie, he will do it for sure. Give him a tail wind and vaulting like that, that record is gonna be pushed up.

  • I think he will break it. And heres why

    1. Parnov is slowly fixing his run. The technique on the pole was worse today than last year, and he still almost got it.

    2. This was only his first meet , and only his 3rd day on full run since beijing

    3. HES SO FREAKING YOUNG STILL. hes got nothing but time.

  • Yeah, but I hear that that Brian Mondschein kid should be right on his tail pretty soon... People tell me he's a STUD! ; )

  • i've vaulted against him before, he's good, but he's already got a 3 foot push off on a 5 meter pole jumping 18' 3... he's gotta find a foot from somewhere if he wants to contend

  • Haha... He's aim4beijing if you didn't know...

  • 18'6 actually. from 7 lefts. But yeah, gotta fix the take off, raise my grip into the 4.95-5.0m range and i can jump 19+,

as for 6.0+, something new is gonna have to develop, and fast. haha

  • He looks like a girl.... get a haircut hippy!

  • He has an excellent chance of breaking it within the next few months.

He still has a lot of technical improvement he can do too!

But we all know that Bubka should've cleared at LEAST 6.30... I hope Steve WILL! Parnov is arguably the best coach in the world right now... There's no telling what will happen...

  • I think the world is agreed that he could have cleared 6.40....hence Bubka's technical model is the "6.40 model"

  • It isn't really... Have you read Batcharnikov's articles? He's the one that came up with the concept...

Bubka would've cleared 6.40 once. He probably would've cleared 6.30 more than twice.

  • Had he shaved down for the finals, he would have sailed over ;-)

  • got his his hips over it.

  • He can break the world record.

    I Think

  • probably not
