I love that non-fans reaction to The Punisher tends to be similar to other Marvel character's reactions to him. Me and my best friend used to pick a movie every friday taking turns. When I told him "I'm going to show you a film based on my favorite super hero of all time - The Punisher!" he laughed and said "Wait, your favorite super hero is that maniac that runs around shooting people?" They just don't get it. I remember explaining to him how he lives up to his name by literally Punishing them

The opening is brilliant, however the music they used on the DVD version for the opening (that guy who sounds a bit like Johnny Cash) sounds MUCH better than this watered down orchestral stuff.

I love this movie, it is so dark and keeps to the point, good realistic action too, thomas jane has the perfect personality and the right amount of charisma to play the punisher

I love this opening. it sets such a noir tone, like a living comic, but when you hear the pistol chambering to send another round across the screen. it really sets the tone that this.. is a totaly different addition.. to the era of ink. Its not something colorful and bright, it truly is.. the black and white side, of what can happen to a man.

Punisher is one of my favourite movies... It proves that movies should always make in old school style and avoid computer effects and because of that it feels so real. You can really feel that darkness, pain and even the action to your core. This opening sequence is legendary at my standards. :D Glad to see who made it. :)

I love this intro, its very subtly powerful,but I dont know-if I had made the film, the revenge he took wouldve made people fucking vomit, thats the kind of revenge I want to see in a movie where they murder your wife and son...just such fucking awful vengeful rage and violence so strong that it breaks peoples hearts.

You can't even remember the entire quote, so that only gives credit to the fact that the Punisher character isn't that divergent from every vigilante justice movie ever made. It's true that Punisher was introduced in the comics before these movies were even thought of (1974), but I think it's just a redundant premise to pass off as a major motion picture these days. So he substituted "revenge" for "punishment." Same difference! Revenge is Revenge, no matter how you butter it up & repackage it.

okay you make a good point, but i can tell you are dead set on your way and only your way, so how about the action, effects? story isn't all a movie is, realism and action scenes really did it for me with this movie...you must admit, if you have seen the movie that is, that the amount of tactical ass this guy kicks is pretty great?
