  • Thanks for this, but where is the basic info on who this is, his Bomb Group etc.? I'll bet he was flying next to my Dad out of Pantanella in Italy....

  • Impressive!

  • Im gradually going through these interviews and loving everyone of them. Dont think people realise how important these interviews on here are. Whoever is making these, keep on doing so please :D I met some vet's on week 4 of my basic training (RAMC medic) when we went to ww1 graves in belgium. 3 were British, one was Canadian and the other 2were American. Great experience and great guys everyone of them, could listen to them for hours. Cheers for the posting mate.

  • Take your bull and walk in the wood with 30 guys with automatic guns. ESAD.

  • I don't think you were ever even in the service "82abnoff" . I don't think i have ever met a real vet that refered to a rifle as "automatic guns" please go back to the sandbox with your plastic army guys

  • i know a guy who was in the same bomb group same plane to he was also a gunner shot down 4 times ouch

  • My Cousin was a T Sgt and his bomber was shot down over italy and he died of wounds. Its a shame it really is the US Air force lost alot of bombers over Italy and Germany.

  • wehategod:just to clarify it was the"US Army Air Corp" not "US Airforce" until 1947

and yes this makes a differance when talking to a WW2 vet

  • That's the truth!

My dad was a B24 navigator, a lieutenant, and he always made a point of saying that he had been in the "Army Air Forces," because it meant he'd served during "the Big One."

I so regret not getting his stories on tape.

    Good job.

  • nice video.

  • @saverhistory classy

  • where did you father live? my grandfather was in the 15th air corps, 459th bombsquadren. do you know of any other 15th vets of wwII vets at all that live in and near virginia?

  • I'm sure there are many that live in VA but i don'thave any info on them . the 15th AF is pretty big, the chances of people knowing one another are slim

  • Great interview. Did you do this interview and was it a relative of yours?

  • Yes this is my deceased father.

My brother did the interview,he edited out his own questions to give it a more free flow

and focus on mt dad's resonses . Glad you enjoyed it

  • We run a mobile USAAF exhibition in England and have met many veterans. Many thanks for this film, it's superb.

  • Wingdoss, that sounds like a cool idea you guys have.how about you post some video of the exhibit and save me the airfare to England? :)

I'm glad you liked the video and i hope you watched both part 1 & 2.

  • We travel to museums, air shows, old bases and we always get a positive reception. Our highlights are meeting veterans and their families, sadly more of the latter these days. I wish everyone would have done a visual account of their service career, though I appreciate not everyone would like to relive some of those times in their recollections. As for filming our stuff I'm no cameraman. Perhaps someone on this site could come along and film us? Thanks once again for this record.

  • very nice interview.

  • Thanks 1pL . I hope you watched Part 2 also

  • I know alot about this but it was every sad, most people died in bombs, americans are fucking stupidwhen they droped the bomb on hiroshima, the could of droped the atomic bomb some where that people with see,not kill what have the poeple of japan did to u.i met them they are forced tyo kill there self

  • I'm sorry to tell you that the Japaneze empire would not have surrendered with a "warning shot" millions of allied troops

and civilians would have died had that bomb not been dropped. Nagasaki may be a differant story but it did end the war.

  • hamlike your one of those people who thinks what happens "now" or that time of the period. You never think of what would have happened if we didnt drop them. Japan would have kept going until the last man. And why are you saying Americans are fucking stupid.your calling the genration that saved billions of people stupid? good job..you should not be in this country then.

  • I know alot about this but it was every sad, most people died in bombs, americans are fucking stupidwhen they droped the bomb on hiroshima, the could of droped the atomic bomb some where that people with see,not kill what have the poeple of japan did to u.i met them they are forced tyo kill there self

  • Well,I can tell you this. The B-24 was on tour,Iam 47 and Dad is 85yrs old.He has always told me about the war but I never saw the gleam in his eye as when we went up inside that B=24 for a look.Dad was reliving it all, here is where I sat...that liitle hatch is where I got in the ball..etc.Iam a grown man but I had tears in my eyes listening to Dad.

  • My Dad was also in the 15th 454squad.He was a bottom ball gunner. They survived 1 plane wreck, landing a shot up B-24.Then bailed out of a B-24 going down.He was a POW for a year and half.

  • I wish we could hear that story! Hopefully more kids and grandkids get these accounts down on video before all thats left is a faceless history book.

  • id listen to him as long as he wanted.

  • make sure to watch part two, which has many photographs

from the bombers and army life in general.

  • It's People Like You That I Have Most Respect For. My Greatest Desire Would Be To Simply Shake Your Hand, Along With All Of The American Veterans

  • What a brave man, Mr Nestoff, was. I admire your patriotism and bravery. The free world can never repay the debt we owe you. Your family must be so proud of you both as their father and their hero.

  • Thanks for your Service . My father was with the 15th AAF 455 heavy bombardment. He was a ball gunner and flew 35 misssions.

  • ssgtforce,you should visit the 15th airforce

memorial at wright patterson AFB museum the 455th

has a monument there along with others.

  • savehistory:Thanks for the info. and thanks for your service. This Country will never see a generation of Patriots such as the WW2 Veteran's. God bless you!

  • free stories are only a V.F.W.post away!

take a drive down and have a beer, take a camera

most love to tell their story.

  • Very interesting - thanks for you posts - I wish that I had YOUTUBE whem my dad was alive to post some of his stories. The WWII vets are a great bunch of guys and gals. Thank you for your service!

  • Thank you Mr. Nestoff for your bravery in defending the best country and best people on the planet (at least the country we were during your time). We need more like you, and fewer like the leftist one-world pansies infesting so much of our country today and trying their best to give away the American nation to the Third World hordes...

  • the B-24 is a great plane! sounds like you had a hell of a time.I like the last line "well thats it, war is hell." well put.
