Scientifically speaking, does the car really fly? The 70s do not have such technology yet. The golden gun can shoot and write? Ifit is a pen, it cannot never be a barrel for a gun. The comedy part is when Bond had to face those Thai karate guys..the girls can fight better haha!! 007 should fight like a karateka like Jean Claude or aikido like Steven Seagal.
watched this today, it was on when i woke up funny enough, they dont usually put bond films on early in the day still i watched it, and some info from the film, you know the little man "nick nack" he shot himself in the head in 1993, quite sad, he left a note saying it was because he was tired of his body, he had normal sized organs, and it was causing him pain and discomfort because they were cramped in his small body and he had enough and shot himself he was depressed as well at the time
Should really have been titled "James Bond and the Solar Energy Gizmo. (Oh, and a spray-tanned Christopher Lee might have a minute or two of screen time shooting some golden gun at people.)"
This 007 movie is a bit stupid but it has some magic and unforgettable things: Scaramanga (and his paradise island), Nick Nack, the golden gun, the song and of course Roger Moore. Everybody says "Moore is a pop Bond, a Bond for teenagers" but the guy was classy and funny.
Why does the golden gun fire 4 times when at the beginning when Scaramanga is a one shot one kill? Guess he had 4 targets in the same place at once...
Easily one of my favorite Bond movies. It's one of the few where the bad guy actually had a legitimate reason to keep Bond alive, because most of all, he wanted to face him in a duel.
Classic James Bond adventure. Roger on great wise cracking form. I've lost my charm. Not from where im standing! Christopher Lee menacing as Scaramanga and Britt Ekland and Maude Adams both looking beautiful. Oh and of course the car stunt and JW Pepper. Dont try that in my bayou, boy!
Years ago, local station back in Colorado had AIred, the Man with the Golden Gun, Goldfinger, and Golden eye back-to-back-to-back. They called it the "James Bond: Good As Gold. Movie Marathon. My freinds hung out all day watching the movies and then we spent all night playing GOldeneye. It was a good day.
Well just so ya know, this week marks Roger Moore's 83rd Birthday and this was his 2nd 007 Film and this was Maud Adams 1st of 2 James Bond Films, Christopher Lee is The Master of Thrills and it also starred the Hervé Villechaize 4 years before he found fame as Tattoo on Fantasy Island
and also, 1974 gave us Tattletales w/the late Bert Convy and Now You See It w/the late Jack Narz on CBS and we also had Happy Days, Good Times, Police Woman, Chico and the Man and The Six Million Dollar Man
Gotta love the car from the early 70's. Even back then it was a piece of crap. Bond now a days would never be caught in one of those AMC cars. LOL. Oh wow. But I really should see this again. Been awhile. Good movie if not cheesy but that's how the older movies were.
I know that few people like this Bond movie, but I do. I don't think the trailer does it justice. In fact, even though the 70s is hardly the best era of moviemaking, it's one of the worst I've ever seen. What were they thinking?
too bad for both Pierce Brosnan and Timothy Dalton...both good (or great)Bonds. The quality of the stories suffered then...plus-no JW Pepper, Louisiana State Police, boy!
Christopher Lee, like Peter Cushing, gives virtually the same performance in virtually every film. That isn't a criticism I adore them both. Who but Christopher Lee could possibly have played Scaramanga? Like Dracula, it is a part he was literally born to play, being a cousin of Ian Fleming.
lmao You have no idea what they're saying, cause the music's too loud. This was a real, theatrical trailer? You know the movie's bad, when even the trailer sucks!
Did the narrator just say the pace is thrilling? Yeah, right! Also, at 2:00, if you're not paying close attention, it looks like James Bond just had a major wipe out. Most confusing trailer i've ever seen...
It was still cool to see this trailer and make fun of it. That's why I watch TMWTGG; it's good for a laugh. Thanks for showing.
uh no... MWTGG was stupid, sure... but The Spy Who Loved Me and Moonraker far outweight in the stupidity department.... rather lame, outlandish, silly films. Of the Moore films: For Your Eyes Only and Octopussy were the best... in fact, out of the entire series, rank well.
I don't know, JessOnThe Run, I personally rank The Spy Who Loved Me and Moonraker as two of the best of the entire series; but I agree that FYEO and Octopussy were two of Moore's finest.
Not including Diamonds Are Forever? That was one of the five worst ones in my opinion. Definitely agreed, though, on The Man With the Golden Gun; it might've been the worst, cause it was one of the slowest, cause they had almost no action and no story to work with (I would say it was bad, cause it had no plot line either, but few Bond films have one of those).
Actually, screw YOU and YOUR opinions, boy! Re-evaluate TMWTGG, and you'll see what I and any rational 007 fan means by saying that it is arguably on of the worst films of the whole series!
Only kidding, actually what was really funny was how he takes the time to bow to his second opponent whom he has 'somehow' defeated and then makes the dash.
Moore realized that the character was a far cry from Fleming's novels, and was a comicbook character nobody could take seriously.Even Connery himself played him this way in "Diamonds Are Forever". For this reason Moore took a more lighthearted approach to the character, and interpreted him more in a family friendly action adventure kind of way, which is what the audience wanted in the 70's and early 80's.This worked because the franchise survived much thanks to Moore's version of Bond
1:16 to 1:29 was a Bond classic (he reminds me of Mr. Bean, he uses his head although he is not skilled at 'fighting'. but he manages to pull it through anyhow, way to go Bond! way to go. FUNNY and nothing short of that.
Despite of many people hate this movie I think TMWTGG was great - one of my favorite Bond movies. Roger Moore, Christopher Lee and Britt Ekland were brilliant.
Hey guys, Roger Moore did it again and who would've thought that the guy that played Nick Nack would end up playing a Sidekick on the TV Series Fantasy Island?
"Look Boss, the plane, the plane"
and also, Christopher Lee is the Master of Thills along with the late Vincent Price and Maud Adams (who BTW has a VERY Sexy Voice) would end up playing in another James Bond Film Octopussy.
Nice and very underrated movie - great mix of action, adventure and comedy. Britt Ekland was very sexy in this movie BUT - her character should have been more clever
funny how this bond is not more popular, its possibly my favorite, good LuLu theme and music throughout, many many cool scenes; bellydancer, JWPepper, KarateFight, FunHouse, fight with NikNak, need I say more?
Surprisingly, this is "silly, fun Bond" done right. Compared to a lot of movies where the silliness is stupid (second half of "You Only Live Twice") or just out and out ridiculous ("Diamonds are Forever"), this movie just plays best with a good set-up, a classic villain in Lee and allowing for Moore to fuse Bond with more of his personality akin to his similarly famous portrayl of Simon Templar (The Saint). Definately underrated.
Could not agree with you more on the comment above. This is one of the most underated Bond films. The musical score is fabulous and there is a little more focus on dramticisim.
I should also add that I am thoroughly glad that Jack Palance declined the role of Scaramanga. Palance would have been a superb Bond villain, but Lee gave a signature performance, hence one might say it was kismet. Many thanks for the video.
I did not think this the best James Bond film; it was not bad, just not atop my list. Moore was great, Villechaize delightfully humorous & Ekland & Adams beautiful, but plaudits must surely go to Christopher Lee. This film is worth owning for he is the quintessential nemesis. What is wonderful about him is that he could play the nemesis of 007 today, even a different character & it would be perfectly plausible; in fact were Lee to be cast in a current instalment, I would be delighted.
@horrorlover927 better than casino royale which was the worst bond movie to date but daniel craig is just terrible. his movies don't feel like bond movies.
Bull. Casino Royale was both a critic and audience hit. Rottentomatoes gave it a whopping 94% fresh rate. Not to mention it was the commercially most successful Bond movie when released in 2006.
Fuck "feel". Old James Bond died with Timothy Dalton as far as I am concerned. Pierce Brosnan's Bond was a walking anachronism, a 60's character stuck in the 90's.
Ian Fleming's novels were never about some over the top gadgets like invisible cars and laserguns in space.
Anyone seen the original ending? Cannot find the evidence but why would Goodnight say "oh James you didn't did you?" and Bond replies "I bloody well did!" after he takes nick nack out side in the suitcase? What, are we to assume her natural suspicions were that Bond was going to carry a midget on to the deck of a sailing ship in a suitcase and PUT HIM IN THE CROWS NEST IN A NET! Never. The film ends with the suitcase bobbing in the sea as the boat floats off. That version is out there somewhere.
The thing i love about these Bonds is that the story was not rushed. Sequences took time to tell the story so by the time we get to the climax it FEELS like a climax. Bonds these days feel so rushed and phoney. They have become so obvious and obligatory. Like if there is not a gunfight by 10 mins in there is a problem. These Bonds have a classic-ness about them like they are made in the era of true movies. They have atmosphere and character. Not like the junk of today.
In the book Scaramanga has got two golden revolvers, bigger one is caliber .45 and the smaller (derringer) has got venomous bullets . Scaramangas hair is red and "nick nack" is a CIA agent called Nick Nicholson. Bond kill's Scaramanga in a jungle.
in the man with the golden gun book i thought that scaramanga said a prayer and when bond wasn't paying attention got out his derringer and shot him? bond never died but in my book scaramnga got away
He MADE Jeet Kun Do. After stuying Kung Fu, he wanted to make his own martial arts system. Trust me, I read a thousand things about him and I even read his book The Tao of Kung Fu. If you don't believe me, check his biography.
dude, if he actually says that (i've never and dont wanna see casino royale) he dont care if its stirred, then hes the worst bond ever! the only reason people like him is because they had 2 wait so long 4 another bond!
This is such a terrible trailer.

Christopher Lee is far the best villain in a James Bond movie, both sympathetic and evil. And this IS the best James Bond movie!

Moore vs. Lee, very good match.
001989 3 years ago
This is definately not Lee, and anyway, this is karate. Bruce Lee studied Wing Chun Kung Fu.
DeaneShafortock 3 years ago
Nooooooooo.......... He studied Jeet Kun do.
Afr0Thund3r 3 years ago
He MADE Jeet Kun Do. After stuying Kung Fu, he wanted to make his own martial arts system. Trust me, I read a thousand things about him and I even read his book The Tao of Kung Fu. If you don't believe me, check his biography.

kirakilla666 3 years ago
but daniel craig is a hard core bond. "shaken or stirred
-do i look like i give a damn." now, bond isnt a prettyboy
goldeneye007662 3 years ago
dude, if he actually says that (i've never and dont wanna see casino royale) he dont care if its stirred, then hes the worst bond ever! the only reason people like him is because they had 2 wait so long 4 another bond!

Maud Adams was also the girl from "Octopussy." Man, I haven't seen that film or this in a LONG while.
Beatle1107 3 years ago
Sean Connery and Roger Moore were the only good Bonds.
