Great video, wish we could have it back. I watched it crumble today...southeasten part of the roof - but it put up a great fight doing so. AND the scoreboard at center count STILL stood after that. But damn, it saddened me, pissed me off too. Another great Philly gem lost to corporate BS. (And who knows when this "Philly Live" will be 100% complete since they will build it in stages) eck
it's a shame that they have to demolish the Spectrum, and I know that their having a whole LOT of concerts this summer there before they tear it down. Like Green Day getting their World Tour going.... gonna miss the Spectrum
amazing video i was there yesterday for the last regular season game for the phantoms that place has nothing wrong with it at all why tear it down i really want to know i went to 10 phantoms game this year there i went to the sixers game there against the bulls on march 13th tere is nothing wrong with that building i love it there i am going to miss it alot
Thanks for the nice comment. I agree with you, its a beautiful building & i don`t know why they don`t keep the Phantoms there, its so handy for the Flyers to have their AHL team next door.
Overall great video. I really enjoy seeing the way these old buildings were setup. I suspect that the picture at the 1:42-1:46 is actually the Civic/Mellon Arena in Pittsburgh between what looks like the columbus blue jackets and penguins.
i was in there yesterday for the Phantoms. They don't have to tear it down. It doesn't have all the toys that other arena's have. But it still rocks. Philly has a history of breaking hearts. This town has done alot to hurt the feelings of the fans, to save a buck to make a buck.
This is the best concert house on the east coast. The accoustics in the Spectrum are phanominal. And it's very sad that the raw natural history and the passsionate inviroment that this place has to be torn down in the name of a hotel. I also feel bad for fans in NY for the loss of Yankees stadium and fans in dallas for the loss of Reunion arena.
The thing with the Spectrum is that it's Philly, it's just Philly. Also there are Churches and castles and even homes that stand for hundreds of years and I dun think the Spectrum is falling down. I think it's still in good shape. Philly's cutting all us working class guys out of it's heart. People who just want to see a concert or watch a game. I don't have money to pay for someone's salary. But I sure like sports I sure like rock n roll.
I heard that it won't be demolished until September or October next year as there going to have a few events before she goes and sell the seats and and other items, at least it won't end up like the aud locked up and left to rot. and they couldn't even salvage 2,000 seats.
Ed Snider is a greedy old asshole. He's tearing down the Spectrum and putting a hotel there. Then it say's on the Wiki page that they want to place another arena somewhere else in Philly. For all the great old arena's and stadiums, it's all greed. For all the luxuries some fans can't afford. Some fans can't even afford greed.
great 5/5 I love that place to there is and was no other place like it the spectrum was a true home ice for the flyers and us the fans of philadelphia gonna miss it very much
ATTENTION: if u are a true die-hard flyers fan, this arena should/ would have a special spot in ur heart that is never forgotten.

Buffalo Memorial Auditorium

Stupid Philly Live Development cannot be constructed. Why can't we build a parking lot on the site of the Spectrum Arena once the place dies?
Jim856796 3 years ago
At least this place had something special for hockey unlike the aud in Buffalo.

Also the new arena is supposed to be smaller and I don't understand the logic for all of this.
