BMS is better, but you chose the ugliest FF5.5 pit there is, so it's really not fair comparison. Look at some of my FF5.5 vids and the pits and you'll see the difference. If you chose a different block with better pit, they would almost look the same from the aspect you filmed from. FF5.5 has WAY more variety, but BMS is definitely more stable for those of us that only fly multiplayer.
Isnt it a little unfair when if we compare FF's widely known weakest traits to BMS's strongest? Some of us don't MP at all; Some of us focus on dynamic campaigns; Some of us really like the idea of participating in an entire air tasking order.
After 3.5 years and playing the new BMS extensively, I've yet to be convinced that BMS is the sole survivor of this series. You have two great choices. Play 'em both; make your own decision.

While BMS is a more stable and prettier sim, it lacks some of the depth that FF has. I just wish the two development teams would work together instead of arguing over who has the bigger e-pene. I am sticking with FF only because I dont fly the F16, I am a Eagle driver.
@yuri60014 Realistic, yes, maybe not as pretty but it's made a giant leap from the original incarnations like Allied Force, Freefalcon, Openfalcon. You also have a dynamic campaign that you can either leave to the AI or manage yourself (and I mean fully manage, you can task every flight in a campaign if ya want) and then there's the fully clickable 3D pit that comes into it's own if you use TrackIR / Freetrack.
@damo4576 Personally I think it's the dynamic campaign that makes the Falcon series that little bit more special. With the Lomac games you're kinda limited to Tactical Engagements or user made missions which after a while become linear with no surprises, in Falcon on the other hand, every flight in a campaign is an unknown, you never know what's gonna happen and you have to use mission planning to make educated guesses on possible threats. Makes it a winner for me.
Thank you, i hope i can get this game for cheap, less than $10 since FLaming Cliffs is expensive, and it sounds like it might have stupid AI like LOMAC, where the planes attack the wrong targets, crash, land on enemy airfields, ect.
@yuri60014 The game is actually free to download, although you need the original Microprose Falcon 4 .exe to install it. Now how you get that is up to you but it may still be available to buy but I'd suggest googling Falcon BMS and Benchmark Sims and doing some reading ;-). Given the complexity of BMS, I'd get used to reading, lol.
@VeteransGaming Ok, was not aware of that, does this not imply legal complications? The whole issue with the Falcon .exe and licensing has always confused me.
@damo4576 Nah I don't think so, you're not getting the game, just the .exe so you can get BMS to install. I haven't heard of that being an issue, just trying to help out fellow gamers.
@thesurfsflat I know! but people need to know the truth, i didn't know the existence of BMS, I want all my friends from freefalcon to get BMS! This simulator It's so beautiful it brings a tear to my eye! :)
I'm with you guys on the BMS, I fly it every day. But sometimes I really wish it had good pits for other aircraft like the Hornet and Tomcat like free falcon does :/. Cant wait for the update :D
i just love the dynamic shadows and bloom in bms. :D

Yes BMS has some pretty effects, however it does not have GPS weapon systems like FF5. Big disappointment.

I agree!!! FF5 is painfun once u have tasted BMS.
The only problem is that i have to set video effects to zero in order to have a barely acceptable FPS in BMS...
