@liamjiang I think it may even be studio execs to force the filmakers to go for CGI overload. There are waaay to many uninspired modern fantasy films to be a coincidence. But 300 at least had the whole classic vibe in it's dialogue and Peter Jackson decided to do his LOTR masterpiece outside of Hollywood. I'm still hoping someone does justice to these movies, so far no luck (maybe Wrath of the Titans will work, maybe).
@NithunNag Sorry but that's incorrect. It's the Goddess Kali stood in the Shiv-Natraj position when the magician arrives. Check out a female figure & not male.
BTW It was the father of my friend, John Mayer, who provided the music for the Kali dance sequence.
@TheMarabouStork Just remember, the Dark Brotherhood (illuminati) usurped several symbols for themselves. The downward pointing star (polaris), the All Seeing Eye, etc. Do a search on Symbols of an Alien Sky, to see what the All Seeing Eye actually symbolized.
that look in here eyes at 09:27 ish when the centaur appears, that isn't a "help I'm scared look" its more of a "oh my..." kind of look...my imagination went in a completely wrong direction at that point.
This particular Sinbad movie is from the seventies... Harryhausen's effects are more advanced, and just as thrilling...As a kid, I could remember always wanting more special effects...they are, after all, what makes the movie...I mean, I knew the plot, I just didn't care about it.
Wow, this is so cool I'd seen this as a kid and totally forgotten about Sinbad, thanks for posting. Is there a 9th installment? This far in I'd appreciate seeing what happens to Tom Baker.
9:30 See kids, when a Cyclops and a Centaur love each other very much...

Kali's motions in the Kali fight was pure beauty. It's the high point of the movie.
(In the background where the evil magician was standing the circular structure looked like the star gate)

I wish I could have that statue god in front of my house. It would be better than any burglar alarm.

they need directors like this guy to do these sort of films today. such a shame how many potentially great fantasy films turn out so bad

anyone else notice the illuminati symbolism in this movie?
TheMarabouStork 10 months ago 2
@TheMarabouStork Yes and no. Kali represents Venus to me, so there's that.

@Beatlesfanize CGI is overused in movies today. They should use the best of the old and the best of the new, now.

My favorite fight scene in this movie. Imagine having to go up against six swords at the same time ...

@ArmandtheWise in fact nearly any of the Sinbad movies is better than all of the Star Wars prequels put together

all it has to do is attack with all of its swords at the same time. there is no way he could defend against that!

This has a pretty good plot, I keep looking for cliche's and I keep in mind this was made in the 50's everyone ripped these stories off!.
