  • I LOVE THIS SONG!! Have to listen to it everyday now! Thanks for posting.

  • Oh my God! I've been looking for this song for 31 years! I'm not kidding; I had the words of the chorus stuck in my head and wasn't smart enough to know the TITLE of the song! Feel like an idiot but thrilled I found the song! Thank you so much for posting this!

  • It really amazes me how good Sonny Osborne was at strumming that banjo.

  • great song! Amazing harmony, and killer banjo pickin.

  • this made me want to learn how to play the banjo

  • el grande classico

  • @pinewoods9 are you close kin to them. To bad sonny don't play anymorebobby is still good in rocky too x press but its not the same without sonny

  • go ahead on,kin folk!

  • Banjerman07 I know about Stelling banjos, but I was fooled on this one. It shows I don't know a prewar Gibson sound from a Stelling. That is scary and the joke is on me...LOL Thanks for letting me know. Very nice picking by the way. I checked out your page.

  • I like Bobby's incredibly sparse mandolin chops

  • How can you beat looking through things and finding this gem! Another home run by the fantastic Osborne Brothers. I guess i am a bit slow not to know it existed.

  • I have loved these guys all my life!! My dad tarted me out on this from birth. I shortly fell in love with rock n roll but still, 43 yrs later, still love the Osb. Bros. I have seen them 9 times and other than an "off night" in Pilot Mt. , NC, they never dissappointed. I think they were still hitting the "tottie" back then. They were still good, they just picked at each other and giggled a lot. I lso had the pleasure of meeting them in Mt. Airy in the early 1990's. Very nice guys. Nice post!!!!!

  • i love this song

  • THose guys sure play well together, thanks for posting. I've been into bluegrass a long time but really haven't heard the Osborne brothers. I think after reading this I"m going to get a CD. Thanks for posting this!!!

  • ...says the king of bigotry and white trash.. mr. playsetman himself!

  • Ur the preacher. U cant accept the fact their good. I will give you 1,000 dollars to face sonny, bobby, dean and the whole damn rocky top express and say they sound like cats. They will kick your ass all the fuckin way to the georgia pineywoods and throw u on rocky top. dont talk shit about 2 bluegrass legends when u ant even a legend yourself. u talk about them around bluegrass people and ur gonna get shit flug your way pal. Next time u need to preach, shove ur head up ur ass and preach away

  • shut, playsetman. it's starting to stink around here with you talking out of your ass all the time.

  • For those who aren't sure what the prewar sound is, listen to that banjo and you'll understand. :o)

  • If he was playing his Gibson I would agree with you.

If you look close you will see that it is a Stelling banjo and not his Gibson Granada. :)

It's actually a Stelling Sonflower (not Sunflower) that was endorsed by Sonny in the early 80's and only 24 was made before they stoped making them.

  • More proof that most of the tone comes from a picker's hand.

  • @plunky123

indeed, although Stellings sound fantastic in their own way, they sound pretty distinct from a Pre-war or Pre-war style "Masterclone" such as a Huber/Yates...etc.

  • @plunky123 Yep....You are correct. No doubt a stelling sound coming from it. I had a bellflower a few years back and sounded very similar to this. Nothing like his granada...or his rb3...But still a good banjo.

  • @Robin18us Prewar sound? Thats a Stelling, not a Mastertone type banjo. The Stelling banjo is designed wayyyyyyyy differnt than the mastertone style banjo like Gibsons, Hubers, Gold stars, ETC.... The way the tonering fits to the stellling pot is totally differnt than the specs for a pre war Mastertone. If you want pre war, find a video of him pickin his 1934 Gibson Granada, theres no way i would even compare a Stelling to a mastertone style banjo. Stelling banjos are garbage and always will be

  • They just don´t wirte em like this anymore...

Thank you very much for sharing, this is awesome!

    hälsningar from Germany

  • Amen to that Snake!!!

  • Thanks for this!

  • Yes it is, had to contact one of the "old timers" in the swedish bluegrass scene and he confirmed that it is Paul.

The concert was in February or March 1980.

  • That's Paul Brewster isn't it?
