Man I remember king tee(Tila Tee) & DJ Pooh back in the days ,Hanging out at the FILA SHOP in Pacoima . i still got one of those mixed tapes DJ POOH used to make there.
great to see this being shared ... ooh the memories .... surprised it wasn't earlier than this, but either way an outstanding piece of old school, solid in every element ... the beat, the rhyme, the scratch ... thanks
Todays tryers would have a problem, if they had to really get on the mike and go for it like King Tee and all the others who took rap to another level and didn't leave you wondering, what are they talking about and what was the point of them getting a contract and doing a record! Rappers back in the day, got to the point and made classics, not here and nows and forget about the next weeks! You'll get it on the way home and peace!
Vintage King Tee...DJ Pooh 'n The Unknown DJ kill'd this beat! Keith Cooley on tha cuts...DJ Red Alert was the first to pump this on the East Coast radio...if I'm not mistaken, the first Compton rapper to get heavy rotation out here before Ice T 'n NWA!!!
@meechamaka411 Big Daddy Kane bigged up Tila too in a magazine back in the days. Then I heard his singles and said "Hell yeah, this cat'sdope as hell!"
@soln4suhreborn True indeed...King Tee is most definitely one of the most underrated MCs to ever bless the m.i.c.! It's been documented, and co-signed by Ice-T that Notorious B.I.G. patterned his lyrical style after King Tila. I used to tell people out here (back in the Biggie's beginnings) that that "Baby, Baby..." chant he used to do was directly birthed from King Tee (they didn't believe the brotha tho')!!! That's the science behind why Tila made dat tribute to Biggie a few years back!
@meechamaka411 Y'know,Tila did always say that "Baby,Baby",that's right!! What I always admired about dude was back when all the East Coast/West Coast thing was goin' on he never got involved in it as far as I knew. He proudly repped the West and STILL got mad love from his peers on both coasts,Tila always kept it real like that.
