its like the ally oop in basketball imagine how amazed ppl were wen someone first did it well jumping up behind hte net is the same exactly like some other kid siad the fact is he tried something completely new and blew ppls minds
r u serious? This IS the original Air Gait dumbass! Everyone just thinks he scored. Think again. What was amazing was the fact that he tried. It's almost impossible do jump across from the back of the crease, score over the cross bar and land on two feet at the opposite end of the crease(and not be standing in it like Gait.) Plus you'd probably get nailed by the goalie or a defenseman. Gait was hit too but the defenseman couldn't knock him down since Gait is so freakin strong. Gary Gait rules!

why is this so amazing? big fuckin deal he jumped because no one could touch him. ANY GIVEN PERSON IN COLLEGE LACROSSE CAN DO THAT. ANY GIVEN PERSON IN HIGH SCHOOL LACROSSE CAN DO THAT. its not very insane, he was just the average lax player until he decided to be cheap. the fact that he went pro again is stupid and ridiculous, he wasnt that good, and he will be even worse now. fucking stupid.
I saw Gary get stuffed in the semi's at U. Md ('89) I think against Md. Not totally over the goal, but faked it, went low, around the side of the goal, and still got stuffed. I loved watching Gait, but still thought it was great when he got nabbed!
because gary gait is 20 times as good as any of those players. yeah, paul rabil and max seibald are good players, but they're nowhere near the level of gary gait or paul gait, tom marechek, or dave pietramala played at. the only player in the last 10 or 15 years that comes close to being able to take over a game like those guys were able to is kyle harrison.
kyle harrison? i dont see him inovating the game with creative ways to score such as gait did. john grant is the modern day gait. if you dont belive john grant scored 16 points in a box lacrosse game and has multiple over 100 point seasons as well as 2 mll mvp awards (BACK TO BACK).watch some highlight videos of john grant and notice how creative he is.
because the gait brothers influenced and made the game of lacrosse so much more popular...and if it wasnt for gary gait mike powell wouldntve been influenced by him to play lacrosse.
Find highlights of Gait, he absolutely dominated and box or field league he played in. As a middie his NCAA goals per game and points per game stats are better than any of the players you mentioned (w/ less games played), even with the best d-middies and long poles covering him. He was a groundball machine and defensive hound as well. His strength and variety of shots were unparalleled. He and Paul took over games, hitting 40 yd btb passes perfectly, skills that come with the Canadian box game.
@tommykUD He's the most decorated lacrosse player in NCAA history. He is better than both Casey and Ryan but his passion is music, not lacrosse, so he isn't even fine tuned to the best of his abillity. I'm not saying he's the best lacrosse player of all time because I believe that's absurd. I could list many players better than him: Paul Rabil, Matt Striebel, Matt Danowski, Ned Crotty, etc. The Powell brothers are all hype though, I do agree.
@ReaLizZe7 None of those players are batter, all though i do not think Gary Gait is the best, John Grant Jr, is the best player in history in my opinion.
@djBLIRR I never said they were better. And you misspelled "better" btw. Congrats, you've won the stupidity award. And John Grant Jr isn't that good. He has good stick skills but when it comes down to it, he's slow and can't dodge. I don't believe in classifications. To be the best player in lacrosse history you have to be able to dodge, shoot, feed, and handle better then anyone else out there. John Grant Jr doesn't have those capabilities.

Are you brain dead? How would the commentators know the name of the move and that he would be trying to do that.
It's called common sense dipshit.

you could land in the crease after you scored then, they changed the rules after the air gait and people diving across the crease became so popular.
