i made the mistake of buying a set of so called budget meinl cymbals...i can't believe that the same company that uses professional drummers to promote their better cymbals, makes crap cymbals like the "meteor" range.
they are crap beyond belief!
it is impossible to ride on the so called ride cymbal because it is so heavy and all you get from it is a pathetic horrible sound.
the hit hat cymbals are exactly the same, too heavy and useless.
That doesn't exist anymore man. You can't judge a company by using their cheap cymbals can you? Don't be close mind and hear their real cymabls: byzance, mb20, generation x, soundcaster custom and then judge the sound.

I totally understand your frustration, but as I said, Meinl understood that those cymbals were really bad (I know they are, believe me) so they don't sell anymore. But you gotta see that every brand have their cheap cymbals so beginners have a set of cymbals to practice. But they will never be good to make concerts.. We all must start with something, crap or not! :)

Well, you should have bought a better series, like the byzance series. I've never heared of the "meteor" range of meinl cymbals.
