實際上台語是閩南語系的分支~ 應該說是台灣地區使用的閩南語~ 和廈門地區的閩南語發音文法幾乎相同，可是詞彙種類不同~ 就像美式英語和英式英語一樣，論文法發音都相當類似，只是用字不盡相同~ 把台語分類為閩南話是合情合理，但是分類為福建話卻又太過籠統~ 福建地區光方言就三百種以上，光福州市和廈門市就是兩大不同方言(福州話和廈門閩南話)~
又況在名稱方面辯駁實在沒有意義啊~ 反正語言進化本來就是憑著文化進程在進行著，老爭論著歷史怎樣改變語言，並不可能改變歷史的結果~ 聽歌享受音樂就好了，吵啥？

其实，在东南亚一带，闽南语统称福建话。（闽-福建省简称，南-南部）我尊重现在大部分台湾人因本土意识的提升，把闽南语/台湾话称为台语。

個人認為台灣話已經不能跟閩南話畫上等號了。經過數百年來的演變，經歷過中國、荷蘭跟日本的統治，融合各種語言的台語，在許多用詞上，已經有自己的特色。就如同美語從英語而來，但是在腔調跟用語上，都有很大的不同。台與獨立與閩南話之外，自成一個語系，並不僅此於本土意識的提升。

我们不能因为受殖民过的关系导致一小部分的词汇用语与闽南语不同而否定它。就算福建闽南地区，各县市的词汇用语发音就已经不同了。新加坡也曾是英国殖民地，也被日本占领了三年零八个月。新加坡的福建话也受到外来语，不同种族，以及其它方言族群的影响而有所不同，但我们不能因此就否定它不是福建话。
