They really failed to mention the differences between the LTD and ESP, the LTD actually has two more frets and depending on the paint job does have a maple cap. The ESp also doesn't have an earvana nut nor does it have locking tuners. The difference is you're paying for a a non mass produced guitar as he said, but the high end LTD's are better guitars for cheaper.
everybody knows that ESP are excellent guitars, but to do a sound demostration, why don´t you put a clean set up in the amp? bad guitars can make this kind of noise also.
Imagine that, three nearly identical guitars with identical Active EMG pickups sound exactly the same. I wonder, if I bought the $200 EC-50 and put EMGs in it would it sound exactly like these 3 guitars.
Im buying a 401 probably or 1000, i need yo know if there is a huge tone or play difference between them? The only thing i see is the 1000's locking bridge. But is it worth $200 more?
@Dawgoalie2 one of the only differences between the 2 is the 1000 has locking tuners, and the 401 doesnt, and the 1000 generally will have body binding
@Dawgoalie2 EMG's sound the same on every guitar. I personally find that the 1000 series sounds better because of the neck wood but again thats my opinion. Just try them out yourself.
@Dawgoalie2 get the 401 and replace the stock tuners and it will be just as *good* as a 1000 series guitar, i own an ec-500 (same as the 401) and an mh-400nt and replaced the stock grovers with locking sperzels and i couldnt be happier. either way though esp/ltd make amazing guitars and imo are the best bang for youre buck
@HatecrewWarrior666 Yea but getting the ec-1000 will have a better fret job. Take it from someone who is dumping a 2006 LTD Viper 400 because of a bad fret job. Amazing tone, amazing neck. I loved it to death, just had a couple bad frets. Just bought an ec-1000 silverburst. Can't wait to play it.
@bluboy21 but just because your 400 had bad fret wiring does not mean that all others will. the same could happen to a 1000 series ltd (although i have never heard of a 400 or higher ltd have issues like that). i own an mh-400nt, an ec-500 and previously owned an fx-260 and an alexi-600 (old model with or. floyd rose and passive emg's) and none of them have had any issues. my tech actually installed sperzel locking tuners on the mh and ec and they held up great. hell, even the fx-260 held up
@GuitarPlayerSkater1 it's apparently a little thicker than a Les Paul so it would depend from case to case. It may fit in a third part case designed for a LP but might not fit in an actual Gibson Les Paul Case (they are often very tightly fitted). Best thing we can say is to get the proper case if you're able and just try it out in a few different third party cases and see which fits best.
Why would you even buy the ESP considering the new ec-1000t has the same pickups, locking tuners, same number of frets and is much better value and, in my opinion, better looking
@ESPHorizonEngl People usually pay for the name. I mean, there is a slight difference in the quality of woods and they are built in Japan, not Korea or Indonesia like the LTD's so may be built a tad better. That's why there is a big price difference because the workers in Japanese factory's are paid more.
@GuitarmanIeuan Yeah, but I must say that ESP's aren't always that consistent and the wood isn't really that great (I own one). If you're buying a high end guitar, I'd advise getting a Paul Reed Smith instead.

The LTD-1000 have a blue color and the ESP eclipse is black? or is just my imagination... I'm interested in a LTD-1000 in black tone~ (like the ESP eclipse in the video D:)
Nothing wrong with the guys playing, but the tone and riffs do not suit what the guitar is aiming for. Nor does he offer a variety of styles to show off what the esp eclipse/ltd series is capable of. If i was considering buying the ESP over my Schecter, which i was at one point, I would most probably buy off of sessionmusicTV's review. Would have much preferred and bought off lee and/or chappers reviews.
@SonicGamer1991 Two, accually. Both the ESP line and the LTD one has a variation with a Floyd Rose. Note that the ESP one has an Original Floyd Rose, while the LTD has a Floyd Rose 1000 Series. There's gonna be quite a difference in tuning stability.
I own 5 ltd model guitars and for the money you can't beat the sound or playability. And some models with just a simple pickup swap gives you a great sounding guitar. Just my opinion.

may i ask can the ec 1000 range stand alot of drop tuning maybe from bullet to pantera to metallica stuff i like it all will the ec 1000 cope with this ?
to be completely honest. I'd MUCH rather have one of the LTDs They have 24 frets as opposed to 22 and i like a dark sound so they're perfect. though i'd LOVE either :P
I hate EMG picksups. to much saturation and buzzy, not much tone. plus the clean tone is muddy. I perfer JB/59 picksup still a hot output but you get good tone and a great clean sound.
Hi! Thanks for the reviwe but i just want to know either you would choos a Gibson over a LTD EC-401 or EC-1000 or if you would choos LTD over Gibson. I'm in that situation when i have to choos between the two of them so it would be nice to get some help from someone how knows. Thanks.
@Kyosho445 depends what gibson your going for, if its a studio id just go for the ltd. if its a standard its a draw unless your looking for bluesy tones too, if you are then go for the gibson,
@Kyosho445 well the junior has only a P-90 single coil, so metal and high output tones are out of the questiion so the EC-1000, have fun with the new guitar \m/
thx for shredding the fuck out of the guitars. he can play the guitar, congratulations to that. but it makes the comparison in sound worthless. sorry for being a lil rude. but, everyone that already played those three guitars, gonna know what he is hiding.
@Orbsee just stick with the ltd 401 or 1000. bcause the esp model sounds very thin in her lows. if you compare those three to another the first thing you will notice is the missing massiveness of the high priced esp model. which would be a totally no-go for people that play heavier music. 401 and 1000 are fine when it comes to lows and massivness. if you start playing them you just gonna do
000 0 0 000 0 0 kinda stuff testing out all the breakdowns of the world for hours!!!!11 xD
@AndertonsMusic I really like the EC-1000 and 401 with s-t maple top. Do the much more expensive ESP Eclipse model have a much better tone (hard to tell from this video), or are the upper end LTD's fairly close? Also I like the Floyd Rose model, but does that bridge affect the tone much? And one last question, do you know if they are planning on offering the LTD EC- 1000 floyd rose in an additional color other than black? Thanks!
2 questions.. first question, can you get the ec 1000 and Eclipse with the white lining instead of gold? The gold looks more yellow than gold is sort of cheesy. Also is there really that much difference between the ec 1000 and Eclipse? 600 dollars of difference?
@zezimadude13 I personally think that the gold looks awesome in the flesh, but each to their own! The EC1000 comes with an abalone binding if you buy the "Black" finish (Vintage Black has Gold Binding)
I think it's the same story with the eclipse. Black models have a light binding and VB models have Gold lining as standard. We don't carry any plain black Eclipses currently but they are available.
It's hard to fault the EC1000 but the build quality and look of the Eclipse is pretty stunning
@zezimadude13 They're coming out with a black EC-1000 with white multi-ply binding this year. It's also gone down to 22 frets for a more Paul-esque look, and I believe they upped the thickness too, and it's double bound (front and back).
80 percent of the time that i spend ripping my guitar i am playing metal and other more aggressive styles but in my down time i like to play blues and even some lighter rock, so basically i am looking for the more versatile guitar here, so which would you recommend the LTD ec-1000 or the ESP Eclipse?
@superultraguymandude Both have EMG Pickups which, I'm sure you know, are high output so these aren't designed to lightly drive amps. Knocking down the volume control will give you a decent bluesy tone on either guitar (with the right amp) though so I think you'd be just as good with either, as long as you're not looking for an absolutely authentic blues tone.
The main differences between the two guitars are the materials and construction rather than the electronics or the playing setup. Andy
@superultraguymandude The LTD EC-1000 has 24 frets, ESP Eclipse has 22 frets. That's a good thing to know :) I think LTD ec-1000 is as good as the ESP model, difference in the sound is not really big I think. But if you want the ESP logo instead of LTD...you pay more :p
@CypherIWT Yes, pretty much. If I remember correctly, I think all ESP guitars are hand-built, too. But don't quote me on that. I have an EC-1000 and love it a lot :D
@superultraguymandude I'll recommend you to get the EC 1000 Sunburst. The Sunburst comes with Seymour Duncans and you can play anything from blues to heavy metal. Is a very versatile guitar beleive me I have it :)
@superultraguymandude either will do, honestly. EMGs + a Marshall = infinite tonal possibilities, IMHO. if you dial the gain WAY down on your clean channel, you'll get a really nice clean tone for chording and everything you'd want. and turn the gain a little bit up, and the pickups will naturally drive the amp. especially an 85 in the neck (though i believe ESPs have a 60... i'll bet both do it, though.) IMO, with EMGs and a good ear and a good amp, you can dial in almost anything if you try.
@YongYDG The EC-401 has active EMGs and so will definitely be suited to higher gain playing. Go on to the ESP website and check out their list of artists, you'll see most of them are metal players!
@axeiston Nope - just straight into the ht40 amp. We didn't have the gain that high - I think it was mode one with the gain about two thirds of the way up. Hope that helps.
i have just got the ltd ec 1000 deluxe and i think it is the shizzle \m/.i have the m 400 to with emg 81/85 , but the seymour duncan in the ec1000 deluxe are just awesome ,the compensated nut makes the all the difference with tuning .open chords just sound so much better
They really failed to mention the differences between the LTD and ESP, the LTD actually has two more frets and depending on the paint job does have a maple cap.

@AndertonsMusic i read that a normal gibson les paul weighs about 7-10 lbs, isn't the ltd supposed to be lighter?
Xbrainsss 1 year ago
does any know if the ec-401 is good for metal and higher gain stuff like as i lay dieing, megadeath, asking Alexandria?
YongYDG 1 year ago
@YongYDG The EC-401 has active EMGs and so will definitely be suited to higher gain playing. Go on to the ESP website and check out their list of artists, you'll see most of them are metal players!

@AndertonsMusic i actually think schecter is a better guitar im sorry :(
YongYDG 1 year ago
hey can you guys tell me if he was using a distortion pedal? I've got the HT40 and i cant get a sound anything close to that out of it :/
axeiston 1 year ago
@axeiston Nope - just straight into the ht40 amp. We didn't have the gain that high - I think it was mode one with the gain about two thirds of the way up. Hope that helps.
