I love the songs of Guy and the late, great Townes but I`ve never understood why Guy doesn`t include the first verse of Townes` beautiful song. Evidentally Townes was staying with Guy when he wrote the song and Guy was the first person to hear him sing it. If you haven`t heard the first verse check out Townes version. This is an observation and in no way meant as a criticism. Just wonderin`....
This is the song I want played at my funeral. The combination of Guy's beautiful arrangement, and Townes poetic lyrics, I can't think of anything more suited at my funeral.
Yes. But I'd like to know the date on this. guy sounds kind of tired. The last time I saw him live which was two years ago he wasn't really making all the notes.
Had the pleasure of standing with Guy whilst Joe Ely creamed Terry Allen over a pool table once. Hes just about as humble as they come. Guy ROCKS! Thanks musiclover for sending this to me.

Guy Clark doing a tribute to his friend Townes Van Zandt. Does it get any better than this? I don't think so. :-)

He had been recovering from lymphoma during 2007 so the chemo might have been having an effect.

Guy doesn't make the notes. The notes make him. Figure that one out.
