What / where are the official rules for the record?
Without detracting from your feat, which is very impressive, I must say all those little 1/4 steps that aren't lunges are pretty sketchy, if the idea is to *lunge* a mile.
@johnlvs2run Actually it didn't. The rules state that you can't make "significant forward progress with a step". The record has been certified. However, it was recently broken.
@alfredarzegar Yes, this is really the Guinness World Record. If you need to confirm, just check out the guinness world records website and type in lunge mile. It's all there!
@galaxiegeoff yea i checked pretty cool, congratulations. i saw another video on youtube of a guy who broke your record, but for some reason got disqualified. do u know why?

I welcome your challenge!! It was painful to train for but I am happy to be done.
I'm a 4:45 miler, I don't think running speed helps too much with this one. Take a look at the previous record holder, Ashrita Furhman. He was tough as nails but not necessarily fast...
Yes, I would pretty much go to the track and lunge in lane 8 as much as I could. I could usually get in 2 solid workouts a week lunging (recovery took a few days), then a few run workouts for endurance. This was harder than any running race or triathlon I have ever done!
How many lunges? This sort of thing interest me. Currently nothing big- the most I've done is about 600 sprawls and 200 squats. I'll look at lunges later.
My average lunge length was 1.12 meters, and if you do the math, that works out to about 1400 lunges over the mile (at an average pace of 1.26 seconds per lunge). It took about 5 months for me to get in shape for it.
Crazy. Sadly you'll never get the attention of an athlete in ball sports, but I guess that allows you to continue life without hassle. Having done this what's the next mission? I once was going for the record of heaviest preacher dumbell curl(110lb is the record) getting up to 75lb, but I had a hand injury from dropping a weight that made me lose my fire. The only reason for telling the story is to show i have gone for a record before, I dont expect to ever beat the record.
This guys walking and using his hands. Fuck him.

It's so painful to watch, I would have died in the first ten metres

That looks tough.
All those extra steps would disqualify you from having the record though.
